Bugger me, I didn’t know that keepers can use their hands!! Even the best sometimes let it through their hands or are nutmegged!! Also, you tell me one world class striker (and I’m not including Russo there) who hasn’t ****ed up a very simple chance!! Very few however have made amends so quickly in such a dramatic fashion.
I’ve enjoyed the tournament, some of the passing has been great to watch. Still looking out for the player that goes down with a feeble touch roll about on the floor to jump up and chase the ref down the pitch. They know their limits with ****housing players, and play to go around players instead. That back heal looked like a keepers error, but no one apart from Russo knew that was coming back in that split second. She should have scored her first chance but as Reliant said, scored by a man in a tournament it would have been shown for years. Keepers in womens team are poor, but considering they average 6 inches shorter then men, their reluctance to have reduced goal sizes is going to create errors. If City played like England in that game v Hull today we would be saying we’re going to piss this league. Need to take away this blinkered view of women playing football and accept the physicality is going to be different and enjoy watching. It’s the 2000’s now even us men can hoover and iron. And even some men are the ones that cook the household meals.
They're also allowed to use their legs and the ball shoulds haver struck the keepers knee. The keeper started in the scoop poition. This means her arms and hands are down = Not nowhere. The keeper isnt bent double. shes slightlly foward and on her toes. This shouild means she can efficiently rotate her hips, drop her knee and go into whats called the k barrier. It was poorly executed technique leading to goal where the keepers knee doesnt close the space the ball went through, because shes gone with her hands without rotating hips and dropping her knee in unsion.
I thought it was the unexpected nature of the shot which caught her out and therefore she wasn’t in the correct position, as you described above.
Please RoD, this is not606, reasonable and thought out posts are NOT acceptable, any more of these and I’ll have to ask Wiz to delete them
The keeper was in a position for what occurred. The shot was low and hands down, body forward etc would be correct. Shes in a position where she shouldn't be conceding that goal.
Seriously, it isn’t for me mate! I would like to think that any England football supporter would like to see us take the trophy!!
first comment from me .. its simple .. in answer to NP's Frustration . to win a game you have to score more than 1 goal more than the opposition ... to be certain, yes to be certain 3 might be good enough, 2 means they have to score 3 .. scoring 1 = opportunities for the opposition to gift you 3 pts ... or .. steal 2 points from you .. or score 2 goals [ certainly 1 more than you and steal all 3 points ... My algorithm gave the result as a home win ... Sunderland as a draw ... as it did Wigan first 12 games us being on 14 points ....
The thing is, they can only beat whoever is put in front of them. The standard is far from the mens game - but so is the investment, wages and business empires Those women beat the best womens teams that the other European countries could find. Bloody well done to them
