Looking at the seating plan for tomorrow it looks like there's only a few hundred or so seats left in the corners We can't be far off having to open West Upper - It would be madness to turn anyone away
There's still almost 5,000 seats available, even allowing for around around 1,700 away seats being left empty, we're definitely not going to be turning anyone away. Hopefully the numbers will increase and the West Upper will be needed later in the season, but I suspect it will be a while yet.
I've seen a couple of posts on Twitter inferring they are not buying a membership until the upper west is open. Maybe they are just WUM, if not, the mind boggles!
Just been to stadium to get my new card and the box she found it in was still pretty full of more cards. She couldn't give me a total but said they are selling very well.
I expected more tbh. I imagine a large % of the 3700 will be free kids tickets as well, so I'm not sure we'll be much better off financially
We said for years it would take a long time to reverse the Allams' damage to the fanbase. It was never just about the short-term effect of diminishing crowds, it was all the people they lost or pushed away who wouldn't necessarily come back straight away, or maybe even ever. Convincing people to come to football isn't easy. Convincing people to keep up a habit they're already in is a lot easier. All those people who've now lost the habit will need to be re-convinced again or replaced. It's a massive shame but we shouldn't be surprised. All things considered, I think we've done brilliantly well to get crowds back up by 30-40%.
Match day sales are pretty impressive mind but I agree thought they’d be more. Think they need to market the kids for free better as a few posted on here barely anyone knows
Especially when kids are free. Showing games live via firesticks, subscription or what ever might help the overseas audience but it does nothing for home gates locally. On a more positive note for anyone venturing into the city centre before or after the game. The Sandringham on Paragon Street is back open. One of a very few single bar, single room old fashioned pubs left, good to see and like City, well worth supporting.
That's probably 3,700 more than we had at the end of last season, I think there was less than that when he took over in January.
It's probably fair to say that a lot of kids have took up the free offer and this in itself has boosted the figure significantly? It's no bad thing to entice local children but the obvious downside is,if we're not getting the required results, they'll drift away and lose absolutely nothing(no loss for the Club financially but empty seats isn't an ideal image) On a slightly different subject, our match day prices have dropped to a very reasonable price too and that will attract both local and away fans. It's a pity that other Clubs haven't followed suit because ultimately travelling City away fans are going to be paying around the £28-£30 mark, whereas our rivals fans will reap the benefit of £20 Match day tickets? This could lead to bigger away support at our home games, good for the away team but no enticement for travelling City fans to boost our numbers at away games?
Good to see interest in club growing again after a few years of discontent. Many of us got hooked on City as kids so whilst my lads are already seasoned City fans now I find taking some of the Grand kids down to the ground Saturday afternoons is without doubt best way to get them addicted as well.
Don’t think prices will affect travelling support either way. Given the cost of travel, food drinks etc on top of seven or eight quid less for the actual entrance won’t sway people. No fans have higher travelling costs in a season than Geordies but they are always there in numbers.
It's not a huge amount I admit but £7 or £8 buys my beers for the lonely journey back north or a bag of chips (wouldn't stretch to a fish supper)when I visit the Blue Lagoon chippy outside Central Station.
