I agree although in Joelintons case it was always clear he had good technical abilities. I'm not seeing that from wood. I do agree though it's too soon to rule him out of doing better
It’s a bit **** mind. Given they had £30m for Ekitike since Jan, weeks of a usable overdraft from HSBC and a clear apparent need for a centre forward among others, it’s pretty poor we’re staring a first match with Wood and possibly Lascelles starting, Murphy on the bench.
I just wanted to be more excited than this. Arsenal finished fifth and have done some really exciting business. We’re not as bad as some of course but just Botman? I’m pretty sure Botman and Bruno didn’t sign up to see Wood plod around up front either, with Murphy warming up.
Maxwell Cornet rumours picking up this afternoon. If the release clause at 17.5m is true I'm all for it. 26 games last year - 9 goals and 1 assist is a great return in a struggling team. If you could have Dwight McNeil at £20m with one assist in 38 games or Jack Harrison at £30+m with 8 goals and one assist or Cornet the sensible money is on Cornet.
I still don’t get why the bar is so ****ing low. This is Ashley territory signings, Look at Wilson. At least Sarr or Dennis had something but Cornet? Cows arse and banjo spring to mind. Plus I’m dead against giving Burnley any more ****ing money. They’re already down so what’s the excuse for taking another one of their **** attackers. Not as if Wood has proven anything other than **** players tend to come from **** clubs. Hands up if you genuinely thought the club would be shopping in the Burnley sales for players at this point?
Michael Olise from Palace has a £35mill release clause apparently, seems like an easy way to fill in our RW problem with one of the better young talents in the Prem without having to deal with the selling club raising the price constantly because Newcastle are interested.
I think we're scared to spend money. Howe talked it up too much, saying the next signing was "the most important". If that means we throw £50m on a new No.9 then I'll understand, but at the moment we seem scared by the market. There's been a lot of scoffing at our Summer. Opposition teams will be enjoying the thought of playing us. I think last season there was this illusion of fear created but if I was Forest I'd be well up for SJP. If we'd gone hard and early, brought in at least two quality attackers, we'd create more of a fear factor. I don't think anyone at Forest will be worried facing Almiron, Wood, Wilson and the tactic will be the same - just shut ASM down.
He'd be an upgrade on most of our current WM's at a decent price Cornet - 26 games 9 goals and 1 assist Sarr - 22 games 5 goals and 2 assits Dennis 33 games 10 goals 6 assists ASM - 35 Games 5 goals and 5 assists Almiron - 30 games 1 goal 0 assists Fraser - 27 games 2 goals 3 assists Murphy - 33 Games 1 goal 2 assists As I say if there's a release clause for 17.5m happy days - that's value for money compared to what's about. A tried and tested winger/striker in the league who covers a few positions and scores goals in a pretty poor team. The one I'd give you Dennis who at ~£25m looks more productive but if we are moaning about signings from Burnley we can't claim Watford is a feast at the top table. Don't worry a cheapy cover for CF and Wide Midfield is a good thing and once Paqueta is signed you'll feel plenty more chipper!
I'd rather not, I'd really like someone on Botman's level. I'm a bit sick of sitting with the likes of Everton fishing in the relegation pond. Wood's enough evidence that we need to aim higher. Compare him to the performances of Bruno and Botman (so far) for barely £10m more. Nothing's changed since January. Need a striker, a consistent right-sided attacker, better option to control midfield and a stronger RCB. In that order. It won't change til the powers that be ****ing change it with new players, it sure as **** won't change because we hope Wood, Almiron, Shelvey and Lascelles suddenly become top class players.
