Good Morning. It's Friday 29th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Whites considering McAtee loan swoop

Pep Guardiola has given Leeds target James McAtee permission to leave the Etihad, but only on loan. The promising 19yo midfielder has outgrown the developmental squad, having netted 27 goals and providing 19 assists in 42 starts, and is desperate for first team football.

Leeds face competition from Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Villarreal; but the real problem could arise regarding the conditions of the loan. Whichever club McAtee ends up at, they will have to commit to providing a certain amount of game time for the England U21 youngster. Jesse Marsch has already bought four midfielders to Elland Road this Summer, and with Klich, Rodrigo and Forshaw also vying for starting positions, competition is already fierce.

Leeds chase striker dubbed 'Best in Mexican Football'

Leeds face competition from Strasbourg for Striker Julian Quiñones, dubbed 'the best player in Mexican football'. The £4.2m rated Columbian plays for Liga MX Champions Atlas de Guadalajara, assisting them with 15 goals in 47 appearances since joining twelve months ago. He has great close ball control, plenty of pace to burn, and can play as a forward or winger. He made the back pages of the tabloids (including the Sun) for the wrong reasons back in March, for making
an obscene gesture to the referee, for which he was sent off.

The Mexican League (also known as the Liga MX) is ranked as the 12th best football league in the World, two places higher than the Scottish Premier League, four places higher than the Austrian Bundesliga and nine places higher than the Championship.

Summerville's future up in the air

Victor Orta has entered into negotiations with Crysencio Summerville, and his representatives regarding a new long term contract. The 20yo sparked controversy back in January, when he asked for a loan move away from Elland Road after seeing Cody Drameh be granted a similar opportunity. Unfortunately, his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Summerville only has twelve months left on his contract, and Leeds are believed to want to extend the deal beyond the 26/27 season. It is unknown whether he is part of Jesse Marsch's plans this forthcoming season; or whether he will join Shackleton, Roberts and Cresswell out on loan, to gain valuable first team football experience.

Many fans were surprised not to see Summerville replace Sinisterra when injury forced the £21.4m Summer signing off against Crystal Palace last week. Marsch decided to bring on Rodrigo instead, indicating that a loan move is more probable. It is believed that a decision will not be made until after Sunday's clash against Cagliari.

    Morning all

I’d hoped Summerville would be ahead of Rodrigo, indicating he was a better player. I don’t feel it would be too hard replacing Rodrigo so if the coach sees Summerville behind him then he’s not as good as I’d hoped he’d be.

I don’t want the Man City lad on loan, Pep wants assurances he’ll play. We’ve got money to spend and what’s the point buying expensive youngsters like Gyabi then playing loan players ahead of him. We’ll just run Gyabi’s value down whilst increasing a City players.

We sell Raphinha for £60m was it? And we look to replace him with a £4m player in a Mickey Mouse league, seriously this has to be a joke? This is heading towards a season where I can see both Jesse and Orta not making it to the end

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Macatee is going to be awesome and if he comes to Leeds you must expect Klich and maybe Rodrigo to be leaving.

nobody has a scooby about our new striker but the media are coming up with some serious clickbait

My view on Summerville hasnt changed. He was angry at not playing for the 23s last season and wanted to go out on loan. Unless he is guaranteed minutes this season he will not sign a new deal, which means we sell him this window. If he does sign it will be to go out on loan unless he is guaranteed minutes.

Sounds like Cody Drameh is staying and pushing for back up spot to Kristensen and Ayling will have to dislodge Drameh when hes fit. But good forward planning as Ayling is ageing

If our new RB can stay fit for the majority I’d love Drameh to be number one reserve. Ayling can just add the depth covering that position or CB if we have a rush of injuries again.

It’s all last minute stuff again, we need a striker ffs and NOW Orta !!!
Bamford is 3 yds off the pace, I personally am fed up with him, Forshaw, Rodrigo and Klich who are either injured or just going through the motions, get rid and get quality in Orta.
I am giving the septic 10 matches, hope I’m wrong but it don’t look good.

No matter how good he's supposed to be but it's a no to McAttee for me, if we're getting loans, it needs to be with a to buy option, we increased White's value 10 times over. Citeh and Chelsea in particular pull in all the best young talent then want other clubs to give them game time and experience to either ready them for their own first team or quite often, sell them on, why help out these ****ers?

Like Doc said, I'm sure this Mexican is just clickbait, as was the German last week.

Can understand Somerville's frustration but is he good enough yet? I'd like him to sign an extension and go out on loan to the Championship(which totally contradicts what I said about citeh and Chelsea :cheesy:)

    Morning all
The big KO is getting ever closer, i (like you all) will be much happier when we get a proper striker in, c'mon Leeds let's get it sorted, as just <yikes> 8 days to go.

I did call myself out <laugh>
Think it's the amount of kids Citeh and especially Chelsea loan out I find the problem, if they were limited to the number they could loan out, then perhaps there'd be more of the talent to go around, plus there must be a lot of talented kids that get disillusioned that leave the game completely.

I think if you are loaning a player to a lower league fine, they will probably never afford the associated value without it leading to promotion. Me personally, I would ban loans between same division clubs and I'd place a very strict limit to how many you are permitted to loan out

Been a bit too quiet the last couple of weeks considering we were supposed to bring in a left back and a striker. Hopefully there is a stealth signing in the next day or two.

Gelhardt close to signing a new 5 year deal and Summerville in talks too. That's a good move imo.

Other than that the only news I could add is that the pitch looks tip top and they had scaffolding all over the scoreboard and around the boxes in the South Stand. I'd imagine the south stand will be empty on Sunday as they looked to be gutting the boxes at one end.

After his name came up yesterday I watched the highlights reel of the best player in the highly rated Mexican league. These included a rebound from his own missed penalty and several random shots that never threatened the goal, what appeared to be some keeper catching practice and a number of missed clear cut chances.

looking forward to watching his lowlight video later

We can't rely on Bamford he has it all to prove again and until then we must have a very good replacement for the start of the season. Forshaw,Ayling,Dallas,Klich,Firpo all have massive question marks hanging over them. Forshaw is never fit and really is he good enough for the Premier League? Dallas will he come back the same player? Ayling and Klich can still do some sort of job but as good as they have been for the club, I'd be worried if they still are first team starters. I'm very surprised we let Davis go under the circumstances but I'm guessing Marsch thinks Struijk or Hjede can do a better job. we are gagging for a proven LB as I still have big doubts over Firpo's ability as well as his fitness.
As on Summerville I'm sure he will be kept till the Jan window. the kid wants to play football and you can't blame him if he wants pastures new to get that. If he has no immediate plans in the first team, try to sign him up for another couple of years and let him out on loan. Time will tell I guess on our plans for him.
I really hope we have dropped our hopes on CDK. The lad is not fully committed and even if Milan drop out and he somehow finds his way here he will want out as soon as someone comes knocking. Lets face it we are in the best League in the world and if he doesn't want to come join our adventure move on. Players have to come in and live and breathe Leeds United not oh that will do for now. Side before self is the motto along with the past message from the club if you don't want to play for us we don't want you.
We are suppose to be building a Prem team. we are not a stepping stone club or are we?

If you take the percentage we had to pay his previous club we didn't get near 40m and even at that we likely haven't seen any of it yet

Cheese wedge upper is open for Cagliari and is almost sold out. Lower wedge should go on sale now and very few seats left anywhere. Bottom of away support area could go on sale if needed as i doubt cagliari will bring many. South stand i have not seen on sale at all.

They had scaffolding all over the scoreboard side of the south stand yesterday. They are renovating the corporate boxes there and doing something to the scoreboard.

I'd imagine that's the reason that the South stand and West B isn't going on sale mate.

Are you suggesting they'll be limited by his fitness, a preference for Gelhardt or a new arrival ?

I’m not personally convinced of gelhardts fitness levels either. Seems to pick up niggly injuries a bit too regular

Yep. Complaints that he was underused last season but he spent alot of the time nursing little injuries so was kept on the bench as a precaution.
