Ah ok I've been through Newark several times when going to/from Lincoln. The traffic there is usually pretty awful !
There are no players of colour in the startIng line up. One or none on the bench.Three black players in the squad. Yes this lack of diversity has been picked up by the BBC, the Guardian etc and criticised.
Obviously the girls playing are the best at present - no issues with that if they are the best available.
I'm biased, if I hear our teams name mentioned I'm there, the build up to Hull has got me, I have not watched any of the games involving English Woman, not interested, I hope they win but Saturday and City is all I care about, I could not name one Bristol City ladies player or any member of the ladies England team, I just am not interested you had better crucify me along side Rp.
And me Not being sexist or racist but I’m just not interested in womens football, despite it taking over the football pages of the BBC app and website and despite the EFL, National League and Scottish leagues starting tomorrow !! Proper football !
You just know if they win on Sunday, the Monday press will be full of calls for equal pay..... I have seen bits of games, and to be frank, it's a f***ing awful standard, I reckon a good academy side of U16s would wipe the floor with them. It's just painful to watch at times. Not a sexist comment; I don't watch men's non-league football either because it's not a good enough standard to hold my attention.
Until this coming season I’ve had BT Sport which covers the National League with live games and highlights, and the standard has been very good But at nearly £30 a month I have other things to spend that money on so have reluctantly given it up. I don’t watch the Premiership so wasn’t getting my moneys worth out of it
Spot on. I watch Paulton and Bath City occasionally. Obviously not the same as watching City but then we don't compare with the likes of Man City. It's just that I can relate to Paulton knowing how difficult it is the other side of the white line. AND we don't get it rammed down our throats on every outlet of the media.
The only team I care about really is City, I do like England, and want them to do well, but the emotional involvement is not comparable. I’ve watched some of the England womens games and quite enjoyed them, I’ve been quite impressed with some of the long passes.I do hope they win this weekend. I’ve no interest in league games though, and City women doesn’t do it for me I’m afraid. Personally I can’t wait for the real thing to start tomorrow. COYR.
seems like we have football supporters ... we have BCFC supporters ... the former supporting all aspects of the game, the latter just interested in the one team as is at every match, and not where they may have come from or the depth of the sport.. I enjoy watching the grandson, have an interest in most results of a wide range of leagues ....... beyond conference just local area Somerset /Devon /Gloss: ..... the womens game [ NATIONAL TEAMS ] at times puts BCFC to shame on the quality of the game ... long live football [ and all sport ]
Got to say that I agree with much of the last two posts. I have often been critical of the ladies game and have seen little of this competition, but what I have watched has been entertaining and technically pretty good. Russo’s goal against Sweden was, in my view, a moment of magic. Had Messi or Ronaldo scored that, the media would have been fawning about it for months!! Yes, there may have been an element of luck about it, but many great goals do!! And don’t go the line of crap defending - after many of last season’s defensive displays, we can’t really talk!!!
I saw the goals against Sweden on the news. 1 The Swedish keeper needs to keep her legs closed. 2 That ridiculous and stupid female commentator screeched the 4th goal was a 'chip'. Both goals down to a mistake ridden keeper. Not a bloody clue.
It's like me pretending to give birth If the women enjoy playing the game, so be it.....Really don't understand it deemed a major tournament on the BBC.....
I’m not sure you pretending to give birth would be shown on the BBC, nor be deemed a major tournament!
Agree about goal 4, but goal 3, you can say that about any player who is nutmegged!! No one was even remotely expecting that! It was individual class!!
I agree, I think the back heel would have caught out most keepers, male and female. The 4th was laughable, a feeble chip and even worse goalkeeping
Nutmegging an outfield player is one thing but nutmegging a keeper is a total different kettle of fish. They're allowed to use hands. She's bent double and her arms are nowhere. Why no mention the appalling miss that led to this 'Individual class'. Supcon72, ffs. It WASN'T a chip at all. The England scorer hit the ball as hard as she could. The inept Swedish keeper got her hands to it, just pushing the ball into the air that some think it looked like a chip.
