I'm guessing by next Friday we'll have loaned White and Etete Devine's currently training with the first team
Doing the summer pre-season tour with the seniors is correct. It gives an inconsequential window for the senior personnel to assess the kids. After that, it should be an "onwards and upwards" loan out. I do not know how the academy does its loan roadmap, but it may need to be quite spartan in terms of time frame. For example : Player X at age N, is first loaned out to a club C 3 leagues below the PL. At age N+1, if C gets promoted, stay with them. Otherwise loan to a club in the league above. By 4 years from the first loan, the player should be at a club that is promoted to the PL, or was involved in a promotion dogfight for a PL place. If that doesn't occur, then the player is not likely to make it as a squad player in the PL.
Oscar Gloukh is reportedly available for £5.9m, albeit with a hefty sell-on clause This may be related to a bust up between Maccabi Tel Aviv's coach and his father over playing time ...and his father isn't his agent, which makes the bust-up weirder
Does Devine have to hang around for a bit to become clubgrown or something? Can't remember how the rules work exactly for very young players.
I remember Dan Kilpatrick mentioning last season we wanted to keep him at the club this coming season to make sure he qualifies as CG before loaning him out As we signed him on 28th June 2020, he'll be CG next summer
Probably be useful for him to remain at the club this season anyway, to be honest. He could get some involvement in matchdays with the congested season. U19s Champions League could be good for him, too.
Considering how often Harvey White was on the bench for us towards the end of last season, I wouldn't be surprised if Devine had a similar role In terms of our academy players, we need to be sorting out loans for the following Harvey White Kion Etete Jamie Bowden Nile John Kallum Cesay Maksim Paskotsi* Marcel Lavinier** Brooklyn Lyons-Foster** * Although it wouldn't surprise me if, like Devine, he stuck around for a season to guarantee CG status **Lavinier & Lyons-Foster because, as they've both passed their 21st birthdays, they would need a squad place
Need to get them right a lot more than we did last season. Seem to have got off to a better and more organised start this time, though. Hopefully that'll continue and you'll have more work to do!
Bowden's certainly one we need to get the right loan for, given he'll need a squad space next season (assuming he sticks around) - and given his game is actually quite similar to Bentancur's, it would be useful to have a club-grown understudy It's also worth noting his agent presumably agrees, given he's with the same agency as Grealish, Ward-Prowse, Camavinga, Aouar and Ben Davies
Wow, someone loves a spread sheet , not entirely sure how I stumbled on to this but in my defence I've just left a Teams video call where on three occasions I nearly threw my cards in
The Barca situation mystifies me. Not only are they mortgaging their future TV rights (although that may be a bet that the La Liga tv money declines or that Barca end up in a Super League…) but they continue to sign players they can’t even register. Seems they’re really banking of pushing Frenkie out. Mad old club over there.
Clearly the rumours about Everton and maybe even Leicester haven’t amounted to anything. Still enough time in the window though, I’m sure he’ll get a move somehow.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it just ends up being a loan to a relegation candidate on deadline day. Probably won’t even be an option/ obligation either. He’s just not an appealing player to any team to want to spend a significant amount on. I think deadline day is where we’ll see a fair bit of outs in general.
It’s hard to think what he brings to a team looking for a player in that position. He doesn’t score goals, doesn’t create, he’s not amazing defensively. Just pretty good at keeping the ball as it’s mostly sideways or backwards. The only thing he has going for him is that he’s British. You can imagine that any club that signs him now would get a fairly negative reaction from their fans. I’m fairly confident he will end up going for between 10-15 million in the last week of the transfer window as a supposed last minute bargain deal.
At most PL sides he'd be exactly what he is here: a squad player. Perhaps a more useful squad player as the gap in quality between him and the regulars wouldn't be as big, but a squad player nonetheless. Unless he moves to one of the newly promoted sides (Norwich would be a good shout imo) or drops a division, he isn't getting regular football.
It’s nothing, that’s the thing. I’ve said it many times over the years but he’s a player without a USP. Everything he does, any other midfielder can do along with much more. The HG aspect is what’s prolonged his Spurs career for so long. I hope he does go, for his own good as well as ours but it’s just hard to see a club that has an opening for him.
Apparently we’re still in talks with Villarreal for GLC’s exit, just need to sort the fee and structure. Hopefully that gets sorted soon because if you thought selling Winks was difficult, wait until we have to really get going on shoving Tanguy out the door.
