Id love us to do what Wolves done 5 years ago and spend 15m on someone like Neves, and 13.5m on Costa to get into the Prem, they've never looked back since.
However you only have to look at Huddersfield, Forest and Luton last season who all finished top 6 to realise a big budget is sometimes not necessary, its how you spend it.
Millwall narrowly missed out on the playoffs aswell last season and theyve only just broke their transfer record last month by buying someone for 1.8m.

Would be class. Give Coventry 20m for O'Hare, Gyokeres and Hamer. Sort of signings that would put us somewhere near the play offs.

I think most managers care to be honest. I have spent enough time around some to know that. Whether they show it in the way fans might want is another thing. I was never convinced by Keane as a manager personally, but he talked a good game. McCarthy was one who cared like mad and I always thought he was a good for us, in very trying times. Moyes was the only one I doubt really cared about the club and I am not sure he ever really fancied it, and I certainly reckon it wasnt what he was sold. I have met him, and spoken to him, and he ia different to what we all saw with us, which is why I think it was a poor fit.

Miracle is about right. It wouldn't surprise me if it takes 10 matches or so for some of our players to find their feet in this league. A solid season of consolidation and improvement, finishing a couple of points outside the play-offs will be just the job. It'll give us a platform to build from for a genuine title push the following season,it'll put us back in the frame.

Can't stand him due to the fact it seemed like he gave up but I do wonder how much of that was down to the hand he was given and how much he was stitched up.

I was chuffed when we got him as always rated him to do good things at a club of our level. He is proven with the bubble blowers that he is a decent manager! But doesn't matter what hand he was dealt here he gave up after first few weeks and just signed ex players whether they were crocked or not, he can not be excused for that. If he didn't fancy it he should have walked away and said it wasn't what he was sold. What we got instead was pathetic!

Moyes didn't do hie due diligence before taking the job - he was desperate to get back in the PL after 2 failures and didn't know that Short had switched off the cash machine (although the purchases of Ndong and Djilibodji were weird). He quickly realised that a) there was no money and b) the players weren't good enough and that he'd made a mistake. The worst thing he did was to stay at the club and effectively sit on his hands and let us slide into oblivion. A better man would have resigned and given someone else a go at it.

Agree with most of this but no ****er would have taken the poisoned chalice at that point. If Moyes had gone though we’d have turned on the man who deserved the blame. Short.

If by some miracle we did get promoted first time to the Prem then our plan would probably be to do what Norwich do. Spend little, have a good stab then use the parachute payments to help build for the next push.

Yeh would be the best policy but to be honest we need to stabilise in the championship there’s nothing more demoralising for players and fans than getting beat every week in the prem let’s get this set of players up to speed keep adding where needed and when possible till we can go up and have a fair craic at staying there

The “let’s just spend lots of money like wolves did to get to the Prem” is exactly the reason half the division is ****ed.

the club are doing things spot on. Honestly the worst thing that could happen to us would be fluke promotion too early. We are way more than a couple of transfer windows away from a team capable of surviving in the EPL.

trust the process. These guys know what they’re doing.

I would be very happy with three seasons building and then a proper crack at going up.

Either I’m in for a rude awakening on Sunday or 99% of Coventry are. Don’t see where the hype comes from in some of their players. One half decent season and they’ve turned into world beaters.

I wouldn't say world beaters but they do have a decent squad and its a big step up from the squads and calibre of players we're used to playing against.

Itll be interesting to see how Doyle does for them if he starts on Sun.

Are you on the RTG forum? A lad on there has done a decent statistical/data analysis that suggests they're a very good team indeed.
