Good Morning. It's Thursday 28th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds test PSV's resolve with £7m for left back

Social media lit up yesterday following claims (from media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb) that Leeds have submitted an €8m (£7m) bid for PSV Eindhoven's full-back Philipp Max. Although the bid may seem a little light, Sports journalist Shark Gutierrez announced last month that the Dutch outfit could be tempted to part with Max for as little as £5m.

The 28yo is a very attack minded left wing back, similar in many ways to Rasmus Kristensen, and would certainly complement the way Jesse Marsch wants to play. He won three International Caps for Germany in 2020/21.

Leeds must concede defeat over CDK

Reports from Italy suggest that AC Milan may have finally reached an agreement with Club Brugge over 21yo starlet Charles De Ketelaere. Victor Orta has gone toe to toe with the Serie A Champions all Summer, battling over the Belgium forward, but the lure of Champions League Football with an iconic Club steeped in history, has always had the edge over Leeds.

Milan's latest bid is worth £26.9m (€32m) with a further £2.5m (€3m) in add-ons, and a future sell-on fee. It has been suggested that De Ketelaere has turned down Leeds on multiple occasions, perhaps now, they will finally concede defeat, and move on to a different target, before De Ketelaere takes out a restraining order against the Whites!

    Klich contemplating his ER future

Mateusz Klich is understood to be considering his future at Elland Road. The combative Pole, 32 has fallen down the pecking order since Jesse Marsch took the reins at Elland Road in early March. In the final twelve games of the season, he started just once. He also failed to make the starting line-up in any of Leeds three games down under recently.

He joined Leeds in the Summer of 2017, but failed to make an impact, until Marcelo Bielsa's arrival twelve months later. Under the Argentine's guidance, Klich played virtually 112 matches in a row (August 2018 and January 2021), missing just one game due to a hangover!

Left back Max actually looks decent for that price. Worth a gamble.

Kich was one of the best players in the Championship winning squad. He got it and selflessly ran himself in to the ground creating space for others in they system. He covered more ground than anyone else. Unfortunately for him that workload has taken its toll and he looks like his race has been run.

He has started showing signs of frustration and a few petulant actions are a sign that he is unhappy. He can't physically do what he used to do and he is getting hauled off every game. I feel a bit for the lad as he seems to be blaming those around him and the manager as he's walking off. He'll realise soon that it's not somebody else's fault, it's just natural for a midfielder of his type and age to start running on empty after the efforts over the last 3 seasons or so.

Sorry to say this but if we can recoup the million we spent on him it would be a great move for us and him.

Klich has been a great servant and deserves a contract somewhere for a couple of years to see out his career. Don't think he's up to pl football anymore but no disgrace in that at 32, he gave his all. The Milan thing is a no brainer and like I said previously, as with Raphinha setup, we cannot compete with the likes of Milan and Barcelona when trying to attract players., established CL clubs. Its nobody's fault, not the clubs or the players. Were just not remotely near that level (thanks again Peter Risdale). Ortas going to have to start earning his salary and cast his net far wider in hope of picking up a gem or two of a striker looking to break through into the big time

Klich probably the most under appreciated of our bielsa era players. One of those who even if it didn’t look like he’d played well, if he was substituted the team started playing worse. As emu says… he was the one who’d make runs behind the defence to stretch and create gaps.

I saw some stats from around half way through our first PL season where they looked at the various measurements used to assess midfielders and he was one of the top few in the league. That’s in the Prem, not the champ.

it’s a brutal game though… he, like the whole team, struggled last year. Whether he still has the legs to press like marsch wants is debatable. Aaronson always looked like his replacement. He Looks likely to be bit part player.

Frankly he should do whatever works best for him… and if that means moving on he should get a huge thank you from every Leeds fan. Been brilliant for us and always ran himself into the ground.

Some of the abuse he gets from some Leeds Utd supporters on twitter and FB is outragous and wrong IMO. He has done brilliantly for us, he'd be good to have on the bench, but at 32 he should go and finish his career playing football.<ok>

Several sources are saying that Max had a poor season last term, which could possibly explain his possible valuation.

Good Morning to you all from a very damp Bardsey
Well I am pleased CDK HAS been put to bedI still think he would have not been up to PL standards
The full back postion looks like happeningwhich still leaves a striker
If we think we have problems recruiting playerswhat about Man U
dE young has stated he his not interested in joining them and Ronaldo wants to leave which tells me there is trouble in the camp caused by his massive egoI think the days of a big club looklike more like a club struggling with its identity
Lets face it we already know thetop5 for next seasonand Man u are miles behind its become rather boring to me bring back the days when anyone could win the cup and leaguenow its shared by City and Liverpool with a scrap for Chelsea

Spot on Leeds60, now compared to you Ive been a Leeds utd supporter for a wet day 1972, but back then the First Division was more or less a level playing field. It was more competitive and money wise a lot fairer. You don't mind me asking, but do you remember your first game at Elland rd.<ok>

Calm before the storm? As all gone quiet on the striker front. Hoping for Gakpo to be announced or someone equally as good…

As far as Klich is concerned I think he would prefer to go home to Poland. He has been great and as Milky said earlier about his stats, he always scored goals. He scored some sublime curlers, a great penalty, some tap ins and some screamers. We missed his goals last season as he was missing the target a lot ir hitting woodwork. This season we need to replace his goals as well as Raphinhas

yep… me too I’m flicking through all the crap clickbait realising it’s all rehashes of unsubstantiated rumours I read last week! We need to sign a striker and a left back for the sake of my sanity <laugh>

even then I’ll be checking for another 5 weeks - just in case there’s a surprise late window signing. What I’ll do when the window is closed to get my fix is anyone’s guess shaks… not sure I want to think about it.
