I'd play him, but I reckon he will go with Gooch

    Patterson,
    Hume, Wright, Ballard and Cirkin....

Is what I'd go with, but he will want a bit more experience in Gooch. The front 4 pick themselves, plus Evans and Dan Neil in midfield will be the rest imo.

I would yes. Pre season has been a mixed bag for me, but Hume is one that has earned the right to start I think.

He should be starting at RB, I reckon.

    Hume - Ballard - Baath - Cirkin

Fully expecting Gooch and Wright to start, though.

My gut feeling is he's going to be our first choice right back for a while, seems to have the right qualities. Even making brief cameos last season after having been uprooted from his homeland he stood out every time.

I hope Neil has faith in him and doesn't play someone out of position instead.

    I reckon he’ll stick with Gooch. Hope I’m wrong…

I wouldn't be surprised mate. Gooch is better used further forward imo but what do I know nobody's paying me to manage Sunderland. Hopefully if we don't start with Hume he plays his way into contention.

It's my feeling he will do.

He doesn’t look far off ready, and the best way to accelerate that is to play him.

    I’d start him on Sunday.

If we play 3 back yes. If not then no. However, I don't think we have anyone currently capable of playing a standard RB in a flat 4. That's a bit of a concern.

Only question SHOULD be Hume or Wright ( for his experience ) at full back with Hume unlucky to be on the bench , your back four would be my choice, but I think AN might be more cautious due to the circumstances, and having to play Ballard , but the only thing to say is it going to be a very interesting selection whoever plays.
