Hull City can confirm James Rodwell has left his position as Chief Executive Officer to pursue other opportunities.

Rodwell was appointed CEO following the acquisition of the club by Acun Medya Group in January, having helped oversee the takeover process.

Chairman Acun Ilıcalı said: “I would like to thank Jim for his time at the club. We started out as strangers and part as friends. I’d like to wish Jim well in his future endeavours.”

Rodwell said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Tigers – a wonderful football club. I’d like to thank Acun for giving me the opportunity to be part of his journey. I’d like to wish Shota and all the team the very best of luck for the coming season.”

Chief executive Jim Rodwell has left Hull City ahead of the new Championship season that starts this weekend. Rodwell, who worked closely with Acun Ilicali in his bid to buy the club in January, departed at the end of last week after coming to the end of his initial six-month term.

City have now confirmed the former Scunthorpe United and Sunderland chief executive has left the MKM Stadium after six months in post with the Tigers having been in post since Ilicali's takeover was completed in the new year.

Rodwell was absent from both of Saturday's friendly games at Cambridge United and Peterborough United, with his last public act in post coming a week ago when he presented Leicester City captain Jonny Evans with the inaugural Corendon Cup following their 4-0 friendly success over the Tigers.

I think he had his nose out of joint ever since he was announced as "interim CEO". Either that or he actually was interim and now someone else is coming in.

He's realised what a clusterfuck this transfer window has turned into and is jumping ship?

He'll have to update his Linkedin now, it still says he's CEO at Sunderland.

Did similar at Sunderland. Came in to handle the sale and do the handover, though in that instance he was brought in by the selling party as opposed to the buying one. Suspect he was just showing Tan the ropes - as he was for the new full time CEO at Peterboro immediately before coming to us.

He's an admin contractor who handles transitions basically.

He always looked a bit out of place whenever he attended a press conference.

As I posted on the Scunny site when he left Sunderland, he'll wash up at another football club shortly.
