I don't understand why they tell him things if he isn't allowed to report it. It inevitably ends up being leaked in Turkey and he's late to the party.
Whoever plays as our number 10 this season will make or break our season. I don't think that's an exaggeration.
I don't either. We just don't create enough. If we aren't going all out for Pelkas, who we know Fenerbahce will give us a good deal on, it must be a player of some quality.
100% especially if we aren’t investing into wing backs. Our creative source is seemingly limited unless Sinik is a creative outlet rather than goalscoring. If we use a 10 though we are either sticking with 3-4-1-2/3-5-2 or moving to a 4-2-3-1.
I'm sure he probably is. I think there's a realisation at the club that while you get miles more value abroad, you do need some players that have played in England before. We've signed a couple of new ones in Figs and Seri but there's a lot of unknowns. To bring in a RB and a 10 domestically, fills 2 big holes for us, whilst having 2 players that don't have to transition from a foreign league. I'm sure between now and the end of the window, we'll bring more in from abroad, but it's becoming a pretty huge overhaul and there needs to be a bit of balance
If we aren't playing with wingers, then why buy Longman and Sinik and we don't have enough out and out strikers if we want to play 2 up top. Surely we have to go to a 4231, it suits the full backs as they are full backs and not wing backs
I’m really interested to see if now our recruitment network has expanded that our network for loaning out our young players has too. Jake Leake, Harry Wood, Jevon Mills all performed flawlessly against a decent league 1 opposition on Saturday and id hope they are loaned out to clubs where they can develop further. Need to give these lads good platforms to prove they can make it here.
It’ll be interesting for sure, 3-4-3 provides that but then no room for a 10. But if the wingers aim to cross more than shoot then it could work too
I'm really not bothered about them going to the highest levels possible, we saw that with the loans last year which backfired massively. Callum Jones didn't get game time at Morecambe neither did Andy Smith at Salford or Festus at Barrow and Wood at Scunny. Wood seems like he could hack it in L2, but it would have to be a ball playing side. Mills is so young that a year in the NL would be fine as it would be for Leake. Fleming was 22 before he's broken in and he's not had enough 1st team football. We did see with Smith at Grimsby that once you get the right loan, they can develop rapidly, so I'd just like to see them playing regularly.
Good point to be fair. More just knowing what they are capable of versus how clubs don’t trust youngsters to do a job. If they executed how Shota wants the team to play then the main side is miles off. The 3 centre halves took miles more risks and the midfield pressed high closing the gap from front to back
It was a low intensity game though, and them and P'boro certainly didn't look like 2 sides in the same division. The kids looked good, but it was a pre season. That being said, I'm sure Cambridge will have picked up the phone after to ask us about a few. I'd imagine A Smith and Wood in particular
There’s only 18 international right backs in the PL currently, removing the first choice players it leaves; Nathan Patterson - Ruled Out Stuart Dallas - Ruled Out Richie Laryea The list below is for left backs; Jordan Zemura Baba Rahman Nicholas Ioannou
Dallas out of action til the new year so that can knock that one off too “Defensive reinforcement” I read that as anything from a centre half, full back or defensive midfielder
