Nothing wrong with the west stand support. I loved it in there. I'm in the east stand now and there are plenty there who sit and are quiet during games. Each to their own
“Because we actually watch the game -as opposed to some who would much rather spend a portion of the game looking at andgoading the opposition fans, in your opinion our support isn't as valid as yours?” As you wrote yours it seems you were grouping me with the group which isn’t yours.
I think the fact that cameras are in the West Upper stand makes it more the reason not to open the upper West. If the cameras were at the other side and you were seeing the upper west empty, maybe the thinking would be different.
You know there is a type. The don’t literally have to have a flask. When Roy Keane referred to the lot sitting quietly at Old Trafford as the prawn sandwich brigade he was referring to a type. He didn’t mean everyone he was referring to spent all game munching on prawn sandwiches.
They all sit in the East Stand now the few who stood up and sing have been shunted back to half of the North Stand.
Apologies - but the question remains - because I choose to sit in the West Stand are you saying that my support of our team is not as valid as your own? Or as valid as that of someone who sings in the East or North stand?
Not everyone in the West Stand sits quietly. There are times though when the whole ground is quiet. How many times have you heard opposition fans singing "Football in a Library?" And that is directed at all of us - not just the West stand
No. You pay your money. I have watched games in the West Stand Upper and seen people complaining to stewards that people were spoiling their enjoyment of the game by making too much noise. One vociferous old dear in her 70s at the time was often the object of tutting and head shaking. I just want a ground with more atmosphere.
I'm sorry (and this will piss some people off on here) but I find it highly irritating that a fair few on here seem to think that unless you're drinking 5 pints with your mates before the game, standing up the entire way through and singing relentlessly you're some how less of a supporter than they are. People should be allowed to support the team how they want. What's wrong with certain areas of the ground being 'full of old people' that's great isn't it? Why are they - supporting the team in the way they want - any more or less of a supporter than anyone else? I attend with my young son and he loves attending and getting his face painted etc in the family stand. I'm happy to be sat with other families not a load of swearing pissed blokes. I myself really like to watch the game carefully, I will cheer but I'm not a 'singer', and it's great that other people do as it's part of the unique atmosphere of a football match, but the fact I and others don't that doesn't mean we're any less of a supporter than those that do. Rant over.
Agreed, I thought so too, especially first half. Things understandably were a bit quieter when we were getting schooled second half!
You are correct - I was not suggesting that at all. I'm sure those fans who choose to stand do so because they feel it is the best way to support our team and watch the match. My point was that in Some games, some fans spend some time goading opposition fans rather than watching what is happening on the pitch
As is their prerogative. I would rather concentrate on what is happening on the pitch rather than off it, that's all
