I'd have Jones in there, but then who do you play at centre half to cover him if we're playing in a three?

That’s upto tan to either find us a cb or dm, unless we’ve got a decent cb in the u23’s?

Baz saying Jones and Longman injured. It's hidden in the middle of a piece he did today that makes more of an update on James Scott and Josh Emmanuel's fitness and the squad in general ahead of Saturday.

We are being told that a 'defensive reinforcement' is on the cards.

I agree I don't think he is good enough, but at the moment, I think Tufan needs more time to get up to speed, Docherty has looked better in pre-season and is worth a shot. But further forward is IMO his best position.

With Baxter, Longman and Alfie Jones all injured and doubts they’ll be available on Saturday, this is probably how we’ll line up.

No because I don’t see him as a DM, he’s a box to box when he’s played alongside Seri as he’s the deep player. Nice try though Chazz:emoticon-0148-yes:

What am I supposedly trying?? I’ve no idea of any of these new players and who plays where.
So your midfield three is ideally? With a new recruit?

My bad just thought you were labelling me as someone trying to replace all the lads who were here last season.

I’d start Slater and Seri with Doc in front.

We haven’t replaced Smallwood yet and we need to as some on here seem to undervalue how good he really was for us last season

Seri was labelled the 6 which would say DM but evidently he’s got defensive vulnerabilities so needs legs either side. Slater provides that, Tufan doesn’t… yet. All articles about him from when he was in form suggested he was a box to box who chipped in with screamers from distance.

I think we need an alternative to Seri, a Smallwood type, bigger who protects the back line in games where we are likely to be under the cosh

Your obsession with the height of our players, and equating that to physicality, is quite weird. Players can be tall and feeble, and short and nuggety.

Why is it weird? If you don’t think height and strength is important in football, then I don’t what to tell you. From what I’ve seen of both Seri and Slater, neither are particularly good at aerial duels or shoulder-to-shoulder challenges.
