Not to be seen as negative but I don't see why this managerial CV warrants the confidence. Must be great at interviews!
I’m not sure there was an interview as such, acun knew shota. Even if we bin shota, who we getting? We’d possibly attract a better manager than we would under the allams but I think acun would go back to turkey for a manager. We wanted the allams gone and it’s happened, acun put his money in so we need to give shota time. At least there’s a bit of excitement now, had the allams been still kicking around, we’d have only got excited if terry had agreed to change from Plan A
Oi What about us is the third group who might have opinions we sometimes share but largely believe that most professional football managers are likely to know more than we do, and who enjoy each game, and hope we win each game, but aren’t that excited where we end up really?
It’s a negatively written CV, his record at Tel Aviv was W/16 D/7 L/7 and at Pakhtakor was W/90 D/18 L16.
Oh 100% things are better than they've been for many many years, we're looking up instead of down, an owner who cares with an international reach and if Everton is anything to judge by - the fans are coming back. We've won the lottery with Acun in regards to possible owners but I don't think there's any harm in discussing how we can improve further. A team full of highly paid, high quality players led by a manager who's greatest managerial achievement is in Uzbekistan might be a recipe for another downing tools scenario. But I'll back him until its clear there's no chance of him succeeding! Although a bielsa/Tufan training session would be fun to watch!
Of course I’d prefer to win loads of games, but it won’t change my life, or my match day routine, if we did lose them all. Tbh the only thing I’d have a hint of concern about is if we go up. Can’t say I really enjoyed the PL, even though I know it’s a good thing for the club, and now they have VAR it would be even worse.
The championship is definitely the most enjoyable league there is. Not just because we'll win more games, the competition is closer, games matter more. For 75% of teams in the Premier league games stop mattering with about 10 games to go!
These days with the Conference League, most teams are either a risk of relegation or in some sort of fight for Europe for some way through the season, but do agree, I never understand what Soton/Palace fans look forward to each season (although think Soton will go down this year).
And I would love 2 up front as well. Sayyadmanesh up front with one of the big lads will be great! Just don’t think we need more than 2 centre backs on the pitch. I think it invites pressure as we sit too deep and pass around the back.
agree, even though I have serious doubts about Shota thank the Lord we are not still owned by Papa Allam & have to listen to his insane rantings on a subject (football) he was absolutely clueless about. He plundered millions from City & tore the heart out of the club
I think theres a bit of a mismatch going on how we set up at the moment. It's sometimes called 3 at the back and the talk is we want to be attacking and play a passing game. In reality we are playing 5 at the back. I don't know if thats because we are instructed to sit deep and soak up pressure or because we are using out and out full backs so it is naturally what they revert to doing. Despite this we still trying to pass it around and work the ball forward which clearly hasn't worked. Hoping that something clicks in the coming weeks as without doubt Shota and his team know more than I do but it does feel like if we are to make this style really pay off we need a rwb/rm and a lwb/lm that are made for the role. Regardless of any issues I am more than happy with a season of consolidation whilst all these players bed in and fully expect a bit of a bumpy ride over the next couple of months. I just hope that there is a clear strategy and a collaboration between Shota and Acun in achieving this.
