Honeyman wasn't, and isn't the best player in the division, but he was key to how we played. I can get behind the idea that any player is expendable and on paper we have signed players with more technical ability, perhaps with higher ceilings. But at the moment, we are sorely lacking a Docherty or Smallwood in that midfield, let alone a Honeyman.
No, I'd rather have kept him, just don't think he's in the pay bracket of Seri, which is what he wanted.
I dread to think what this board will be like when we go 1-0 down to Bristol in a week’s time. Demands for an eight foot midfielder. Acun implored to stop signing players. Honeyman elevated to Pope. It’ll be quite a ride.
I’ll just be glad to be back at the ground. Hoping I’m not a Jonah … my first game back after Stoke away last season was at Bristol. Not happy with the Members snapping up all the best seats though … selfish bastards!
Quite. We’ve gone from incessant baying for announcements of signings to Acun should now stop signing players, all in about 7 – 10 days.
If he can afford them, he should sign them if he wants to improve on 19th But they need to be better than what we had, and improve the system we play. If it's going to be 3 at the back and 2 up front then it's wingbacks not wide forwards that we massively need. And a bit of grit in the middle of the park.
21 games before the World Cup starts in November. We could be in deep ****, but I really hope Shota sorts us out!
Which is why we can't get too dewy-eyed over departed players, as even the stand outs were stand outs in an average team. Today even usually dependable performers were cack though. They either took it as a training session or we're in serious ****.
Well having played to a good level of amateur football I know a good footballer when I see one and pay brackets don't or aren't the bee all of everything, I won't slate the new players they need time to bed in but l called the poor decision to let Honeyman go because he was a vital cog in our engine room that higher paid players might not fulfil just because they are paid more , why am l explaining this if you know about football you would not need an explanation , sorry to explain the bleeding obvious and up the Tigers, ps dare I say I don't think in my opinion that Shota is the right manager but I hope I'm wrong
If we let a player like Honeyman go, then we absolutely need to replace him. If we sign expensive players and don't, and are worse off in the long run then quite obviously it's a mistake.
im sure Acun will not be happy with 18th place? With the number of players coming in & what they are costing in transfer fees & wages the target has got to be a top 6 finish? I keep saying this but I see nothing in Shota that makes me believe he can achieve this. He comes across as a man out of his depth clutching at straws. We need a strong manager who the players listen to. Personally I’d put Andy Dawson in charge with Ashbee as his No2. No one is going to muck those two around & not carry out orders!!!!
