Afternoon all, I have signed up for Millwall for the afternoon and watching live shortly, only a fiver.

Looks like a strong start line-up, so lets see how they do against a Championship side.

Woolfy makes same simple error trying to dribble out defense, gets caught, 1-0 to Lions. Otherwise they have matched them in most areas and done pretty well.

Town playing well, I am enjoying commentating to myself, and I like the look of Marcus Harness. Ladapo with nice touches too.

On present play you wouldnt guess these 2 teams are from different leagues.

Last 15 of 1st half we were poor and offered very little threat. Penney I fear is def not the answer.
But it is a friendly so time to get to know you time. Burns is not himself today.

Ladapo scores, great goal! 2nd half and Morsy sets him with fine thru ball.

    1-1

Subs are all on and Kaydon sets up Morsy with a great oppo, skipper blows it, thought he had been practicing that outside the D shot all summer! Could be 3-1 up.

Sony Aluko hits a screamer, just tipped over by Bart. Great stuff from Town now, only one team in this.

I am encouraged by the way some 15 players have fitted in and get to know each other.

Very hopeful for the new season.

Sounds like a decent performance against a team a level above us. I didn't see the match but my concerns are similar to last season under McKenna...we clearly have quality and some of our play is far too good for league one however are we a bit of a one trick pony and only try to score perfect goals... are we trying to be a Man City/Liverpool when actually we need to scrap and be a bit more direct sometimes.

After seeing some of the highlights from the West Ham match it looked like we were getting the ball in the box a bit earlier than we were last season was that the case today gaffer?

That was the only chance I have seen the new players and how they fit in with KM plans.

Yes, there was much more direct to the Box play, and surges forward, and the new boys played their part and they will all grow in confidence. The 2nd half was overflowing with riches and talent and I am sure the amazing 500 away fans returned home happy.

The one glaring issue was Morsy was off his game throughout, except one cracking shot. I hope he hasnt been overplayed in pre-season and internationals. All players need a proper break, and mean 2-3 weeks wth family and not a ball in sight! Either that or Millwall had done their homework and their defenders were at him and didnt give him an inch to dazzle down the wing.

I have to say for the umpteenth time, I still prefer 2 strikers up front to chase and harry and pose a direct threat.

Overall, a very promising performance, lots to learn, and much was very good, and bodes well for our new season.

    Bring on Bolton!

Yes I've yet to see an Ipswich side who look better with 1 upfront than 2. Even under McKenna we looked at our best when Norwood and Bonne played uptop together. Not yet convinced by the 2 number 10s behind the main striker, think we're trying to be too clever and in some games I've seen it takes space away for Burns to run into. Whatever happens we need to create more chances than we were last season
