Frog farmers still get about €7bn of subsidy from the EU to run inefficient smallholdings. Sadly for them the EU is having to reduce the subsidy by 5 per cent after Brexit because they do not have so much money to squander without us. No wonder Macron spends so much time railing against the British. Now that he is the biggest fish in the EU pond he needs to get the other 26 members to put more in the pot, a venture that has no realistic chance of succeeding. British farmers do not smell of garlic or eat snails for breakfast – in that they differ from the Frogs. Many of the dairy/meat farmers make little profit as the big supermarkets drive down their prices – just the same as in France, so not that “totally different”.

Many of those advocating net zero do not understand the issues, nor the scientific process, but seem to see it as another excuse to get angry and virtue signal. Despite media claims, the science is far from settled in many aspects of the debate (the scientific process doesn't really have a position of 'settled'), and despite there being questions on the accuracy and precision of the data, what isn't in doubt is that the climate is and will continue to change. We are in one of the coldest periods that the planet has been exposed to, and sea levels and extreme weather events have been very much higher in the past. The only real debate is the rate of that change. None of the measures proposed will stop the climate changing, and many of them will have no impact on the rate at all, and the UK best scenario contribution will have nil to negligible impact on climate change, but a big negative impact on many other health and economic issues, which could be more harmful than the problem they claim to want to resolve. Rather than playing King Canute, with what at best can only ever be very short term measures, it would be far better for future generations for us to build resilience to that inevitable change into construction and lifestyles. That opinion is shared by many world experts on the topic, as well as many environmental groups. It's a distorted media and misguided politicians confusing a bewildered public that are creating the conflict. Oh, and certain people that see an opportunity to increase their wealth are capitalising on the fear and confusion, and not all of them are the usual global suspects.
I instantly dismiss anything on the BBC as it’s been corrupted, possibly forever, by the State and billionaire donors. So much so that it culminated in the disgusting and inhumane reaction to covid which resulted in thousands dying alone in nosocomial settings, as the government trashed our economy, National mental health and childrens well being for a mild respiratory virus. Sadly, people will simply seek out articles that support their preconceptions, and offer their comfort blanket as some sort of proof that they are right, even when they clearly don't understand the issues. It’s a scam of a magnitude never seen. We are being led to the point where you have to sacrifice your quality of life, stop heating your home, driving your car, going on holiday, eating meat, cleaning your clothes daily… to protect the planet, but, no one alive today will ever be around to know if any of it worked. I’ve been alive for a little over 29 years and seen 3 or 4 severe winters where it was minus 10 or lower for prolonged periods of time, can’t really remember any prolonged heatwaves or period of severe weather. Just absolute drivel from The Beeb as per. Every green innovation is harmful in some way or another, some more harmful than the fossil harm it’s supposed to reverse. Good bless you all.
Other than the BBC which I do generally agree with, the rest is your opinion which I don’t share. Unfortunately, I am one of thousands who caught COVID before the “jabs” were available and will now be on drugs for the rest of my life. Before COVID, I was healthy and could count my illness absences from work, over 40+ years, on one hand.
