1983. visiting cambridge. went in woolies. spent ages browsing reduced albums. came across volumes 3 and 5 of this is loma. 99p each. had a friend who was big into soul and thought he'd like them if i didn't. once i played them, they were going nowhere. he eventually got the full set. i didn't, alas.

if you weren't sure about soul music, you would be after these two albums. one of them a bit more on the bluesy side.

this is the best ike and tina track, full stop, end of.

    she'd do wrong for him.

    sad ending.

bobby fuller was a bit full of himself. thought he was it. managed to annoy the local mafia.

    they made him drink petrol.

    rip.

possibly up for debate. originally listed as suicide and later changed to accident. suspicions abound.

on the topic of punishment, punk era uk band the inmates covered dirty water by us group the standells (time i checked out their back catalogue and bought some, i think. ditto the blues magoos).

the inmates played in the town where i was at college and were supported by a (local?) ska band called the prisoners. i'd bought this already, so went along.
