Weakness in the squad should be identified in the pre season games and early matches before the window closes. Still time to put things right. If they can't get the players they want then comes down to player perfomance improvement and good old fashioned coaching. Bit of a suck it and see season for me. We ain't going down, but would expect to be in the top half of the table at the end of the season. Owners are expecting promotion, so if not achieved heads will roll.
I was quite impressed with Shota, we didn't have the players to score goals, so he made us as tight as possible defensively so that we could stay in games. We just didn't have the players to do much more and I don't understand why he's coming under criticism. Too many people look at Forest and Cooper's impact and think that's the norm and completely ignore the squad they had.
Would not be totally against playing similar to that whilst we bed in new signings over the first month where we have a pretty hard run
Expectation on Shota will be very different now money is being spent. Can't imagine the board will be happy to see the same defensive style as last season with the players coming in.
How City can contemplate 3 in midfield is beyond me. Against Leicester Seri was deep and did a good job, Slater was tidy but usually passes a safe ball which is sideways or back and the Turkish lad was not fit and does not have the engine to get box to box. All this resulted in incessant pressure. Please revert to 442. Message ends. Vern
We won't play as defensive though. Last season we just couldn't keep the ball, this season we've got players like Seri and Tufan who can, so we'll naturally have more of the ball.
Providing dependable cover if someone gets injured. Do you expect top players to be happy to sit on the bench
We've played the same defensive way in all but 45 mins of our 3 first-team pre-season games so far. What he does at Peterboro will be interesting.
It feels like a harsh opinion but to me I see poor results and poor league finish, Macca did alright without doubt but to progress we need to cut emotion and move on past some of them. I do get you with Randell but I like to judge a player early on touch and awareness, I think he lacks those basic elements which tells me enough.
Baz has given some indication of 2 potential transfers for next week so I’d suspect 3 or more really by the end of the window.
Don't think that included the potential for loans towards the end of the window though, which Tan confirmed they were looking at. 3 more after Tetteh seems like a reasonable guess.
