Besides vaccination cutting the risk of infection, transmission and serious illness possibly death not just for yourself but those you are in contact with.

TBH I'm not sure that's the case any more. I had my last jab in December 2021 - the vaccine has probably worn off by now and will be ineffective against the newer strains.

But i can still travel? Almost half the world's nation's don't require it iirc. Coming to your neck of the woods for a wedding next year for example.

That wasn't really my point anyway. It's just nice to know that despite the lunatic fringe's wishes on here I was never ostracised from society :)

At least there's one thing the shambles gov got right during the pandemic (albeit eventually in the case of healthcare workers).

Isn't there are 270 day limit from your last vaccination on travel with most airlines and destinations, less for those with recovery certs? I had my second booster end of March and we're booked on Singapore Airways to Indonesia mid September so far all good to go.

Really? As I said I had to show my international vax cert before boarding the Eurostar from St. Pancras so how are you able to pass Dutch border control? Not all vaccinated posters are in the "lunatic fringe" by any means I've been able to travel in the EU and enter venues using my corona pass not a circumstance that can be ruled out in the future.

Entering the Netherlands from United Kingdom
    Arrival in the Netherlands

You must arrange the following before your arrival (back) in the Netherlands (if you are 12 years or older):

    Entry ban for non-European residents
You may only enter the Netherlands if you're fully vaccinated or if the purpose of your trip falls under one of the other exemption categories. For example, if you have the Dutch nationality.

Three things I have read recently, reference Covid.

    1. I think the Echo (yeah I know) reported that as many as 25% of adults, in Southampton, hadn’t had a single vaccination.
    2. A post on Facebook, from one of my brothers no less, saying that he had followed the government guidelines and stayed in for 5 days. He said he was still positive, but he would go out if he wanted to.
    3. The NHS were considering lobbying the government to consider reintroducing the wearing of masks in busy, inside areas and giving out free LFTs. Some hospitals are considering reintroducing mask wearing, irrespective of any government action/inaction.

    And an extra.
Remember when someone, it might have been Johnson, said “If 20000 people die from Covid, it would be a good result”.
We recently passed 200000 deaths in which Covid was listed as the cause or as a major contributory factor in the death.
And another extra. Since the start of Covid, when people actively tried to avoid catching it, I had known very few people who actually DID catch it. In the last week, four people I know have caught it, presumably because no one seems to be worrying about it anymore.

My experience of travelling to Spain is that they have stopped asking for a Covid pass, although I think most people still take it with them, “just in case”.
I can see it being re-introduced if numbers keep spiralling.

It may depend how you travel. You can go to France from the UK with just a negative test. How hard would it be to then drive to the Netherlands? Or get a train from Paris?

I've got family out there and am able to meet one of the exemptions. Highly doubt that will be necessary by the time I go however but there's always ways around these things should it be required.

I've known a few fly out recently on the chance it won't be checked (successfully too) but I wouldn't take that risk personally when there's sure fire ways of getting in (see above).

A negative PCR test not self administered with cost and inconvenience or just taking a chance? With rising cases all may well change.

I'm not sure on details, I'm not planning on any foreign travel in the near future, but I know people who have travelled. Actually, I've just checked and there are currently no restrictions at all on travel to Germany (unless you're from China).

And yeah it could change. Everything changes with covid.

What ways round do you need if you have an exemption? Trotter travel?
Were they able to board without a check? Not my recent travel experience on Eurostar or others on flights.
Whatever, vaccination has meant a return to wider international travel due to the proven benefits in terms of reduced infection, transmission and serious illness and deaths.

I'm not going to discuss personal details with you - the ways round comment is because, as you mentioned, these things are always subject to change so its good to have backup plans.

Let's not get distracted from the main points here anyway. You once told me that I'd be restricted from venues in the UK due to not being fully jabbed up and you were wrong. And now tonight you've said/implied I won't be able to enter the Netherlands next year and you're wrong on that too.

Thanks for playing. Have a good evening and maybe we can have a beer while I'm over x

It does indeed, more people are getting sick here in the Netherlands since restrictions were eased and, as in the UK test, reporting and trace has been reduced. I can only hope this doesn't cause a new wave that brings about increased restrictions having travel plans to Asia later in the year.

Not in the UK Libbs, over here where passes were required and may well be again. No inconvenience at the time and widely used throughout the EU.

I posted the current entry regulations, what they will be next year who knows so not wrong at all, nothing implied.

No problem with a socially distanced beer we'll be going Dutch.

The biggest pain in the arse is restrictions on meat and dairy products, no pork pies, Cumberland sausages et al pickled onions and horseradish sauce Ok. I've seen upset Brits having their contraband confiscated and being sent to the long non EU queue. Larf, I nearly ****.

In fairness, most of the doom and gloom about ostracised people, and the takeover of the deep state, was coming from the Le Tissier fringe...

Didn't realise Matt posted on this thread. What's his username?

I'm talking specifically comments on this thread where there were definitely people desperate for me to be restricted from certain activities or to lose my job even based on not being fully vaccinated. For the purpose of clarity the people supporting those sorts of measures are the lunatics I'm alluding to.

I also didn't mention 'deep state' so not sure the relevance of your comment really. Unless you're suggesting that anyone who didn't support mandatory jabs for certain jobs or events is a conspiracist... you're better than that mate.

Libs - haha - no, you're misreading my intent completely!

I didn't support mandatory jabs, and I certainly don't think people that didn't/don't are conspiracists. What I was (clearly badly) trying to express, was that so many of the warnings of doom - cashless society, microchips in the vaccines, deep state control - as a result of the vaccines were being spread by the Le Tissier contingent (not on here, thankfully, but generally) and precisely none of that stuff has come to pass.

I haven't followed this thread enough to know that people were wishing bad **** upon you as a result of not being vaccinated. That's very poor form if so (even if I would be one that would have encouraged vaccination, I also totally understand why a lot of people weren't keen).
