True. I find Smallwood’s comments quite bizarre actually. It’s becoming more common for footballers to bad-mouth former clubs to the media whilst they’re still playing. Usually, they wait until they retire before and do it in their autobiographies or on podcasts these days.
My expectations for this year are top half. We have had some good players come in this summer and let’s be honest it’s been a breath of fresh air after the last few years. The owner has a dream and wants to build something new and exciting. He loves football and has replaced someone who didn’t. I think the new owner understands how important it is to the fans and supporters and that’s important to me. I think the management team will reach for the sky and if that takes a couple of seasons of improvements so be it. Looking forward to the new season and just to be able to say that after the toxic years of the old regime is just great.
Some will always try to show a club in a bad light even if it is to make people/fans think they been done badly by.
Well I suppose he might be statistically correct, but if he's talking about league games which I believe is implied, he only missed 4 games, so it isn't much more inaccurate to say City didn't win the matches you and I didn't play!
The money is not the issue it is were it is accumulated from. Example a club can be sponsored for whatever amount as long as it is legit and the funds coming in are legit, a club can have as many sponsors as it wants. Now 1 sponsor may have connections to say a successful businessman who has dealings with them say, and through connections that businessman has dealings with say a club owner now that is a legit way to raise money through 3 parties so one has actual access or guarantees to the funds they may need which can be used for whatever the purpose through sponsorships. Don't know if i explained that right at all but i am sure some will get my drift.
Personally I haven’t a clue how this season will turn out. A lot depends on if the new team gels but at least there’s a positive vibe around the club for a change utt
Got to admit I’m almost clueless on all the signings never mind this lad, until I watch them for 2/3 games and work out who can pass, who as that extra skill, who can tackle then I just don’t know. It will be interesting finding out but I just hope many live up to the standards some make out on here.
A close friend who works in Turkiye (not a football fan and wasn’t aware specifically of Acun) has always said no one gets on in business in Turkiye unless you’re corrupt. No exceptions.
Juve barely qualified for champions league last year finishing fourth. I think we should be setting our ambitions higher
some players have got an inflated opinion of their worth - we were a very much bottom end of the Championship club with some good players and a number of average / below average players - it was obvious we needed a clear out and with the sole exception of KLP, none of those that have gone were good enough to push for the premier league and that includes Honeyman - he might have been a good sub to have but that's not what he wanted and that's ok - we failed last season because our attack didn't score enough, our midfield didn't create enough and our defence leaked too much - the team needed wholesale changes to push on and that's exactly what's happening - so thank you Richie but if you were as good as you thought you really wouldn't be off to Bradford
We certainly didn't fail, it was just a real disappointment that some of our key players from L1 didn't step up. Doc and Wilks especially, I hoped they'd both adjust well
Agree with all of that except about the defence. Thought we were pretty good defensively, the attack and midfield was average or below average though, barring KLP.
