I thought they'd have done a lot more with the shirt unveiling.

Anyway, on a brighter note, is anything close on the transfer front? Keep seeing Pelkas' name being thrown about too.

So why would signings be dependent of KLP going this window? Obviously we will probably make more signings now he's gone as we have the income to play with, but we wouldn't be spending that money before he'd gone would we?

No, they had the deal lined up from the sponsors but hadn't been paid yet. So they tried to sack off the loan by paying it back but had already put that money down as part of the deal (which is what the person I was referring to was calling shady).

The sponsorship deal from Corendon is massive, sounds like a large part of it was paid up front. The deal is the biggest in our history, not just our Championship history.

Fair comments, but I think we're obviously trying to break even by selling our most talented youngsters for high prices and then using that money to buy players better than Championship level.
This season will be a dry run, get as high as we can, get to January and see where we are. We've kept a good spine of players, added to that with quality and it seems like there's more to come in.

No it seems some where suggesting it was earmarked for that but no the spending before he left was not dependent on that, what if deals fell through and KLP was still here how dependent would that seem then?.

We might be breaking even this window with transfer fees alone, but there's s also the curious FFP line from Baz's article. We wouldn't be having those convsrsations if they weren't looking at investing more than income.

Or maybe its only a concern until media deals are finalised?

I think they did, they knew there would be offers and they obviously had a target number in mind when doing these deals and when was accepted that fitted the model, it was accepted. I think there's some money from Acun, but the club can't be solely dependent on him bringing transfers in.

Brentford's offer went in at the end of June, which was accepted. So we knew the money was coming in and once that bid was accepted, you saw the transfer activity light up. All of a sudden Seri had changed his mind, Tufan had signed and Oscar arrived.

Perhaps we were working ahead of the money, which shows there's a solid plan in place at the very least.

The former has a choice to make, Acun spent some time with him and the club are hopeful he'll take the two year deal we've offered. Pelkas seems likely according to those on the contitnent but I've not heard anything specifically about him. Shota likes him, Acun knows him, as likely as any other to happen.

16 million still doesn't cover all of the fees and wage budget increase for the length of the contracts, nor does it account for the ones yet to sign before Sept 1st.

Was there ever much chance of Keano staying, we weren't short of interest and if Brentford fell down, there would have been other options.

Actually long term wise, the sponsorship deals are a massive part of growth moving forwards. In our last Championship season, our turnover was just over £15m. We don't have a chance in hell of competing in this division with that turnover. Obviously increased crowds help a bit but sponsorship is a massive way forward. We need to be looking at reaching a turnover in the region of £40m eventually and that's without parachute payments.

From what's been said, it seems pretty realistic that sponsorship this season alone could increase our revenue by at least £5m with the various different companies/deals. That's a pretty beautiful start.

Potentially, the EFL are no mugs, they'll probably just be checking we aren't going mental and going to do a Derby or a Portsmouth.

No, but like I said, there's some input from Acun too.

No not really, the demand for him was very high and somebody was going to come in for him sooner or later with a serious offer.

You may well be right, but personally I'm struggling to believe that a sponsor (a minor airline with a fleet of less than 30 planes) just after the pandemic would pay a high seven/eight figure sum in advance to sponsor a club that the prospective owners had not even bought yet. The statement the club put out when announcing the deal said biggest ever championship deal, if it was bigger than all of the prem ones why not say that? If Correndon are paying us over £10m for a 3/4 year sponsorship deal we've had their pants down.

The club statement didn't mention it as far as I can see (unless I've skipped over it). It was the HDM article that stated it was our biggest ever sponsorship.

They've also just expanded into the UK, Germany and Switzerland and they have that Dutch company as well. I mean it's a hell of a deal for us, especially as we're not even a PL club.

Seems promising. What about Youssouf Ndayishimiye? That one seems to bubbling away under the radar.
