Just watched the BBC compilation of the tournaments best goals. The standard is obviously considerably lower than mens football but the goalkeeping is borderline pointless. Goals going in slightly off centre repeatedly. They’ve got to shrink the goals or something, or put a bloke in nets.
I do get what youre saying, but, The keepers will get better in time as more money comes into the game, bigger Athletes will give it a go. I think comparing with modern male keepers is a bit unfair to be honest. If you look at times gone by, keepers were much smaller and less able. Willie McFaul is a prime example, as much I loved him at the time, he was a midget by current standards. The way I see it, it's easy to be critical but, why, they're not doing any harm to anyone.
This is something I'm currently chasing my club up about at present - we have 2 teams at most age groups through u10-16's, u 18's & dev squads then the senior team - I have been aware of 2 maybe 3 specialist goalkeeping session put on by the club during my 5/6 years coaching here - its not good enough. But goes back to the same issue though - funding - there's not enough money in the girls games to get them the benefits, to pay qualified coaches to come out and do a fortnightly/monthly session with them so the standard won't catch up - certainly not at my club who, while associated with a previously league one team, are a completely separate entity and given ~£10,000 a year by the men's team to fund the ladies senior squad only - that barely covers training facilities let alone affiliation costs, kit, playing pitches, staffing costs etc then the rest of the girls football needs to be covered - so it's super difficult to get that specialist training required.
GG, As you did say please, I was in the throes of requesting the change when I got hitherto accosted by a bull in a China shop. I'll ask the mods, although Jak is the only one with any sense, and he may be a kip by now.
Better than yours, although that's not hard is it mate. I think Zante is now favourite until she tells me otherwise.
Don’t change it. Don’t mind Tash. His balls haven’t dropped yet and the last boob he touched was his mothers when being breast fed
One seems to have stepped in atime warp, sure it was a World Cup year and not a Euros year but being a Scottish fan it’s easy to see how I can become mistaken .
Marvellous, one for change and one against, and then one spoilt ballot. I suppose we could go for Wo as a compromise.
