Or returned injured in September? Which would be more likely <whistle>
Seriously hope it works out for him. He's in real danger of being one of those players that only gets a few hours of football per season which is a complete waste of whatever talent is there

It is...journos are linking us with any players that seem even slightly plausible.

Right about Bamford too - IMO he's a busted flush and will be no more than a bit part player from now on. We should've sold him when there was interest in him last Summer - just as we have done with Phillips. I can almost see the schadenfreude when he gets injured for City and is out for 3 months.

    Mo Salah - 30
    Son Heung-Min - 30
    Harry Kane - 28
    Patrick Bamford - 28

I am in no way comparing Paddy to the others but would you take a chance on any of them given their age?

    I thought you would.

Bamford had a **** year for injuries last year but it's one less year he has in his legs, just as Forshaw has more than one year less.

These are proven PL players that you just want to dump because you don't rate them. Both MB and JM rate them and, I'm sorry if it offends you, I'm going to trust their judgement.

We will be allowed 5 subs next season and I'd like to see a bench full of players who will ask different questions of the opponents.

Paddy is a proven PL striker. All those who still call him barn door have very short memories.

Forshaw is a tidy CMF which we will definitely need in some games next year so I'm happy to keep him.

Bamford got 17 goals in the prem. So what would be his worth and should we sell.

42 million is better in the hand than no million in the physio room.

Is that 20% of any profit rather than fee received? My maths isn’t very good but usually a sell on clause is on the profit made?

Lets call a spade a spade. Bamford has had one good season. That doesn't make him Mark Viduka. Forshaw has 'done a job for us' last season, that's all.

Going back to Bamford; he injured himself with a stupid goal celebration, and couldn't play in Leeds most important match for decades as he caught covid!

I feel aggrieved that he caught covid prior to the last game of the season. I know people can't help catching it, but you can be put things in place that make it harder to catch, ie face masks, vaccinations, staying away from restaurants, clubs etc. Am I bing unreasonable?

I just feel if you're on 75k a week, you should give some sacrifices!!!

Maybe it’s just as well he didn’t play in the last game. It didn’t turn out too bad

Yes you’re being unreasonable. Masks do **** all, it’s not a vaccine because you still get and spread it and we need to live our lives without being complete pussies, worrying about feeling unwell sometimes.

There's a difference between Salah and Bamford and that is Salah is on of the best players in the world. Bamford has been bumped from club to club. If he has another injury hot season then yes Boot him we don't need to carry players just cos they got us promoted. This goes with Forshaw we need rid of him before he's injured again and we're carrying him for another year.

Well I don't think Bamford is worth £37 million. You've also got to remember that the transfer Market has crashed. You can sit there and point out Liverpool have spent £80 million on Nunez but Terrier isn't an international player and before last season wasn't prolific. We've been looking at Strikers worth£20 million but we're now go for this guy and willing to pay near £40 million.

We wouldn't get 10m for Bamford today.

    4 years left on a 75k a week contract...

Bamford's current market value is £15 million. He maybe a 'proven pl player' but let's not forget that he's a 28 year old journey man with 8 transfers under his belt most of which were year long loans.

We need Bamford for the simple fact it’s proving near on impossible to attract anyone better. After the season we’ve just had and selling your best two players is it any wonder we’ve not got the same pulling power we had this time last year.

In regards of goals he has given us one great season but that was with no fans at the ground. Sadly we can’t attract better and not only that, we’re a striker short compared to most PL clubs

    Some great posts today all,
We should have sold Bamford last year- yup sell your best striker.<doh>
It's his fault for catching covid. <doh>
Injured due to stupid goal celebration- seems to be the norm nowadays. The jumping on a players back by various teammates is worrying tho, you could easily cause them serious harm.
Find a proven PL striker under 28 that we can afford- not going to happen.

There’s middle ground on paddy. He does a lot of work for the team and makes some great runs. His finishing is erratic. It was terrible in our promotion year. Brilliant for the first half of our first premier league season and then more hit and miss later on.

But whichever way you spin it his goals played a major part in our success. Personally I don’t think he’s irreplaceable and his injury record is an obvious concern but in our current circumstances it would be lunacy to sell him. We have enough unknowns as it is without adding to them. What we need is another striker to compete with him, cover for him and IF they prove good enough replace him.
