You only have to look at Ndombele and Pogba to see how difficult it is to asses what impact a player is going to have, it's always a lottery to some extent especially with young players.

i get what you mean…but not if you use these 2 wasters as an example

Fergie had it right with Pogba and his mentality first time round when he got rid of him - United ignored this lesson in life and resigned him regardless

Ndombele had previous for being an entitled waster…well documented by former team mates and coaches…we signed him regardless

Due diligence obviously not done quite as it should be regarding both…red flags everywhere

so we can get a good insight into what we are letting ourselves in for. Just like I can tell you right now that Richarlison is going to be a fans favourite.

THink of all the strikers we've signed who failed here. Same everywhere Torres, Shevchenko, Rebrov there's loads of them.

Excellent window so far and 6 in halfway through preseason is superb but we need 2 more to make it a 9 for me.
Would love Maddison and that Ukrainian CB Zabarnyi.

but with them it wasn’t an attitude issue it was to do with settling down etc which can happen.

Id say Bergwijn was like that with us…wasn’t because he wasn’t interested or thinking he’s Billy big bollocks…he just couldn’t get going with his career with us for a handful of reasons imo

im hearing links to SMS at Lazio

    Milenko something Savic

remember we were always linked with him back in the Poch days

Maddison seems like a bit of a twat…would dislike him more than the dislike people have for Richarlison…just something about his smug face.

I think Spurf is right in that it really is a lottery most times as to whether a player will turn out good.

You can have the quality and skill and still be ****, just see Ndombele and Lo Celso.

You can have the attitude and work rate and still be ****, just see Winks and Soldado.

Feels like you need the perfect combination of quality, skill, attitude, work rate, mentality, tactics of manager, understanding of language, good surrounding teammates and likely many other factors in order to be a success. It’s where the good scouts/ DoF’s/ coaches get paid the big bucks to try and find or develop players perfect for their manager.

i bet Perisic has zero issues settling down and making his mark

just look in them steely eyes

then have a look at Ndombele

feel like slapping him everytime I see his mug

Definitely hope so, he’s the one I’m most excited about seeing play for us.

Perisic is the one who excites me the most too. Although I feel the club is still lacking some creativity, I think Perisic will bring a lot to the team and barring injuries he will he play most games.

I get the feeling with Perisic that he is a top pro, worked well where ever he's played, no nonsense, feels like he came to work with Conte and to complete the set of achievements in the prem

The recent generation of Croatians are/ were just a different breed in general. For a relatively small country, they produced a national team of unreal ballers. From a technical aspect especially, some of the best around.

Modric, Kranjcar, Perisic, Rakitic, Brozovic… all just technically brilliant players.

A lot of it goes back to the Yugoslavian system, or to be more specific where the academies were located

In what is now Croatia there were academies in Zagreb, Split and Osijek, which Dinamo, Hajduk and Osijek reaping the benefits ever since, while what is now Serbia had academies in Belgrade and Novi Sad which Red Star, Partizan and Vojvodina are reaping the benefits of - which is why Kosovo is probably doomed to be spoken of alongside San Marino, as any of their best players were moved into the academies in what is now either Serbia or Bosnia

Similar can be said of the former Soviet Union, as there were prolific academy systems in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kyiv and Minsk (to name but four) which is why Russia and Ukraine continue to produce talent and Belarus isn't too shabby either, but the likes of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia etc etc etc don't have the infrastructure

it really sticks out when you look at the players some of those academies have produced
Dinamo Zagreb: Luka Modric, Zvonomir Boban, Robert Prosinecki, Mateo Kovacic, Niko Kranjcar, Milan Badelj, Vedran Corluka, Josko Gvardiol, Sime Vrsaljko, Dario Simic, Andrej Kramaric, Dejan Lovren, Igor Biscan
Hajduk Split: Alen Boksic, Igor Tudor, Stipe Pletikosa, Darijo Srna, Slaven Bilic, Milan Rapajic, Robert Jarni, Ivan Strinic, Nikola Vlasic
Osijek: Davor Suker, Donmagoj Vida, Robert Spehar, Jurica Vranjes, Nenad Bjelica, Borna Barisic

Stop pretending you have some objective method by
which you can rate transfer window business to the
    0.1 level. :)

Just read that Tanganga to Milan could be a loan with option to buy but Spurs will have a buy back clause written in to the deal.

    interesting.

I’ve also seen that whilst Paratici is in Italy he’s trying to sell Gil to Sampdoria.
