Reports linking the club with moves for Dimitrios Pelkas and ex-West Ham United man Enner Valencia are not thought to be correct, Hull Live understands.
I don't understand where the FFP talk is coming from. We've just sold KLP for at least £16m, and had one of the lowest wage bills in the league last year. Yes, some of the wages for the new players will be much higher but the wage bill still shouldn't be mad. It's like they're saying that we were reliant on selling KLP to fund the new arrivals but there appeared to be no rush or desire to let him go.
When I made this point it was called overly negative, that we'd be spending a heap more money, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if it's loans/cheapies from here to fill out the squad.
Well we've let the cat out of the bag now. So much for that 10m allocation for a striker it seems. All that said, I'm perfectly happy if most of the moves are funded by sales and the club isn't over-reaching.
Maybe they are just being careful, proactive and transparent with the league so as to make sure they don't fall foul in any way? I'd guess the rules aren't so straightforward, so maybe just taking no chances?
He's a free agent isn't he? So yes we'd probably pay a reasonably signing on fee, but depends what his wage is as well. And of course if it actually happens.
Is there a limit on spending within a particular window perhaps? But even that wouldn't make sense as the KLP sale should offset the majority/all of it.
No, the FFP rules are pretty clear. You can lose something like £13m a year over 3 years, we've not lost anything recently and have the largest FFP headroom in the League Yes, but his wages would be higher than anybody in our squad. Cheap is not a word you could use to describe him
Fair enough, as I said, I guess we'll see if it happens. I'm not convinced we'll make any more big signings as it would take us well beyond the KLP money, but maybe we will.
A team in a Cup Final ending up playing with 10 men as no subs were allowed seemed to be a regular occurrence. Elton John’s cousin being a well known casualty.
Looking at page one and see so far we’ve signed 6 players and 9 have left hopefully more signings soon then
My take on it is we really only have 4 'new' incoming and 3 of those leaving never really figured. Agree we do need more in.
Beat me to it Evington. If we are discussing in the context of last season v this season then it is only 4 signings to date. Looks clear though that 2 more are about to be announced. But then we've lost very good players in KLP, Honeyman (and arguably Smallwood). At least a couple more quality signings and a quality loan or two would be nice, and I am guessing that's what we'll still see, then we can get really excited about challenging this coming season!
