Depay coming up again... If the plan is to make Lucas a RWB this would make a degree of sense, as that would leave us with give players for the three forward spots...but on the other hand, does Depay really come across as a player who Conte won't try to throttle on the training ground?
Would that mean Spurs sell Emerson and Doherty this window then? Or would it be Doherty and Spence with Lucas as back up to the back up?
I'd have thought that the plan is to move on Reguilon and at least one centre-half. Doherty can cover both wingback roles and I think Emerson will be cover for RWB and RCB. Spence probably has to prove himself, but I'd expect him to start as Doherty's cover. Moura would be Kulusevski's cover and an emergency RWB. Purely guesswork, of course. Would explain Doherty and Moura starting as the wingbacks against Sevilla, though. I doubt that's the plan for our opening game of the season in the league.
United paying £49m for Lautaro Martinez........ ...with £8m in potential add-ons..... FFS, no wonder they've never paid off any of the Glazer's debt.
I don't think both Emerson and Doherty will be kept after Spence's arrival, I think one is almost certain to go by deadline day, more so if Conte does plan to play Lucas deeper. I actually think he'd fit the role better than both of our current options, doesn't mind grafting and is far superior with the ball, it's a role that could really suit him as it did for Moses under Conte, it could then also open up for another wide forward to come in, or possibly an attacking mid who can also play out wide (Maddison?). If Lucas is seen as a long term RWB and not just a makeshift one, there could even be the possibility we sell both of Emerson and Doherty, Atleti's been sniffing around Emerson whilst Doherty would have suitors if clubs were alerted to his potential availability. I don't think Conte sees either as integral players, not transfer listed like those in London but also not labelled as "do not sell", similarly to players like Tanganga and Sanchez.
Not sure what the thinking is behind Lucas at RWB. He is one of the worst crossers of the ball in the league and is worse than Emerson defensively. So what would we gain?
Emerson has been linked with Atleti on and off all window, coupled with Reguilon being told to clear his locker, so it does appear there's some openings Turning Lucas into a utility player could be useful, though, given his lack of end product as a straight attacking player
A Turkish source pretending to be a Spanish source claims we've activated Kim Min-jae's €20m release clause EVERYBODY DRINK
Conte doesn't necessarily want his right wingback to cross the ball and get wide. As we saw when Doherty had his good spell, they should look to get in the middle up the pitch.
There's rumours that Degerfors will also be loaning a CB from us At a guess it'd be either ***an-Walcott or Lyons-Foster
Are we expecting anymore signings after Spence is finally confirmed? Or will it just be outgoings for the rest of the window?
Journalists close to the club are suggesting that we are looking for 2 more to come in - a centre back and an attacking midfielder/forward. The suggestion is that we still have a significant amount to spend, as well. No doubt there are a number of outgoings to be dealt with - Winks, Reguillon, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Gil, Rodon to start with. Those sales or loans should supply the funds to buy at least one of the two suggested incomings. If we can get all that done, and done before the start of the season, we will have had an incredible window
Bayern reportedly looking to sell one of Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano or Tanguy Nianzou to balance the books if they sign De Ligt
Would take Pavard, from the limited times I have seen Upamecano reminds me of a better Davinson Sanchez. He's pretty solid but often has a brain fart leading to a goal, penalty or sending off. I didn't watch him play many times last season so could be wide of the mark.
