The Left favours PR because the only party on the right of British politics is the Conservatives, so they could lock them out of power. The Illiberal Democrats favour PR because they come second in so many seats that it would give them more MPs. The SNP effectively have PR at Holyrood and it forces them into a coalition with hard Left Greens to have power – they would allow it conditional on being allowed to have IndyRefs every year until they won.
