Does he? I remember when he used to post here and just copy Beefy's posts lol. Regarding the Chelsea youth thing then recent history would suggest that youngsters are more likely to break into the first team there than they are here so its a fairly obvious move for the young lad. I still think buying lots of young players elsewhere reduces the pathway a bit and that young players will be aware of that too.
Which is why I think we really ought to use our extra sub spots to get those kids some playing time. Doesn't mean they need to appear in every game or anything close to it, but give them enough of a taste that the prospect of dropping back to playing in the reserves for two years ceases to be as desirable. It doesn't need to. There was still plenty of opportunity to integrate Academy players last year, given that we weren't exactly awash with top performers. We just...didn't.
Think Winks is a step up from Diallo, and potentially a new lease of life could see him hit some form. Just not sure what our plans would be with the Lavia signing. Poch massively rated him.
You might have missed the original point. I wasn’t suggesting to keep Tyler. It was if we could have used him to better our position for Colwill; if we indeed are even interested.
I just don’t see how we could have used him in the deal for Colwill? We have no say on who Dibling can or can’t talk to so Chelsea could just chat to him anyway regardless of Colwill
Pretty much this. Perhaps the implication is that we could have tried to push him towards Chelsea rather than Newcastle in exchange. But that is all in the realm of “gentleman’s agreement” and also (it would seem) wasn’t necessary anyway
Read back if you want. Actually don’t. It’s all good & what will be will be. It’s all black & white. UTS.
£25m with £5m payments. I’d imagine that there’s sell ons too. I actually think he’s too much at that price, though I get why. If de Ketelaere is going for the same ballpark figure then I think he’s much more of a sure thing.
Agreed, far too much at that price. I know he is only young but a goal conversion of 1:4 and adds little in general open play/assists etc
Yeah - there are some pretty outlandish claims flying about suggesting even at that price we would definitely make money on him in a few years time. That is far from guaranteed. There still aren’t a high number of players moving for fees north of 30m. And still only a small amount of clubs that will pay it
I must have been watching a different Armando Broja from everyone else, because I swear he was f*cking brilliant. And he's just 20. Scoring more goals than even Alan Shearer was at that age.
Except that is not what people are saying. They are saying they don’t think he is worth the 30m being suggested. And it might be higher as chelsea as saying they don’t want to sell and it is only a first bid “Not worth 30m to us” is not the same as “****”. Sure reading people explain why they don’t think he is worth 30m might come across that way but that isn’t what is going on
That’s sad. I hope we have our sights set on a decent alternative if we’re happy to miss out on Broja.
