The rumblings are that we’ll look for an AM/winger type and that’s where the big spend would be if we add more, and we’ll maybe get a young CB - possibly that Ukrainian lad perhaps? - if Rodon or Tanganga go on loan or permanently.
I think I’d like some Prem/ HG options if we’re adding an attacking mid type. I wouldn’t mind taking a look at Leicester. Maddison could fit an attacking/ creative role and would be a HG option, as would Barnes for more of the wider side of things. Tielemans is also someone I’ve liked for a while. Palace have a few too; Zaha, Eze and Olise could all do a job here in attacking mid/ wide forward roles. All HG too. Don’t know enough on Zarbanyi but I’m quite happy with our CB options and not sure where he’d fit, he’d need both Rodon and Tanganga to go in order to have chances of game time I think. An upgrade/ proper competition for Dier could do though it’s not a major issue, I mentioned Bremer before but seems like he’s dead set on Inter.
Maddison seems to really dislike Spurs so I reckon that’s dead in the water. Bremer wants to stay in Italy for another year so he can get Italian citizenship. Eze would be a catch, I know we were linked when he was at QPR. I doubt Palace would want to sell, not sure of his contractual situation. And I think he’s had a few injuries there too?
We’ve signed plenty of Arsenal fans so I doubt a few anti-Spurs posts will be an issue, lol. He’d jump at the chance to join us now I’d imagine. Yeah Eze’s had a couple knocks so would need to be wary but any of Palace’s attacking trio appeal to me if the price is right.
From what I've read the overall deal structure was always £20m total, the question was what portion of that would be made up in bonuses. It was initially split 15/5 but rumours were Boro's triggers for bonuses were ridiculous - stuff like £100k every time he put his shinpads on. I'd hazard a guess we've actually accepted the triggers but negotiated the up front fee as a compromise, so it is now 12.5/7.5.

My hope was that we would get to a similar point in the window, with the Conte "must haves" done (whoever they turned out to be) , and then Bale + Eriksen would still be on the market as "nice to haves" . You cannot have everything though.

Me too. If we did genuinely have 150 million to spend we have currently spent just over 80. And we have had 20 back from the Bergwijn deal and will likely get another 30 day from winks and Lo celso so surely there is money there for a really big one? Unless we save it for next year and go all out on Bastoni or similar to which I suppose is fair enough
