Shame. I though this one might have been another Berahino, with Levy having to show another upstart chairman their place.
Based on my experience of some Korean BBQs, Levy is the exact person you need for when they try to slip the lettuce onto your bill as a side order ...yeah, probably should explain that one: Korean BBQ comes with a couple of sauces and a bundle of lettuce leaves, and the idea is you wrap your meat and sauce inside the lettuce leaf - and on more than one occasion I've seen the lettuce snuck onto the bill as a side order, which would be like a Chinese restaurant charging you for the pancakes that come with your roast duck
...hang on, I've had a thought: who's actually doing the Spence negotiations? For weeks (months?) we've been told it's Levy as Paratici is busy elsewhere, but with Levy ion Korea either Paratici is filling in, or there's somebody else entirely handling it now
It’s been 87 years in the making but Spence is actually going to have his medical this morning! What a time to be alive.
It’s a special one that’s for sure, even Romano has given a here we go! This is more groundbreaking than the JWST images.
Ally Gold’s says Spence is already at The Lodge. £12.5m really does feel like a steal, best RB/RWB in the Championship backed up by the fact he was in the TOTY and he’s only turning 22 in August. In a market where English players are going for insane premiums, we’ve got a really good deal here, taken enough time and ideally we’d have had him in Korea but all in all can’t complain too much. If he becomes a top player then the extra £7.5m in add-ons will be peanuts. I’d say that’s pretty much us done for necessities now and we have about 6 weeks til deadline day. Incredible we’ve moved this fast and secured all key positional targets. A creative mid was something I’d have liked but I get the impression Conte doesn’t see it as imperative due to the firepower and creativity we have in other players, even if none are what we’d say are “creative specialists”. There were rumours after Lenglet we’d want three more, so assuming Spence is one, that possibly leaves for two more additions. Not sure if they’ll be a couple of Gil/ Sarr types or we’ll look to wait a few weeks and see if any openings arise but it feels like they’ll be bonuses either way. We’ll probably focus heavily on outgoings now though, need to get a few off the books and ideally permanently.
What an insane transfer window this is turning out to be. After Spence if we can get a creative attacking mid and another CB we will have 2 fantastic options for each position. Our first team was excellent last season but we just had nothing off the bench. These are the following players Conte didn't have available to him for the last 3 games when we qualified for champions league. - Forester, Romero, Lenglet, Spence, Doherty, Peresic, Bissouma, Skipp, Sarr, Gil , Richarlison. Add in hopefully a creative mid and CB and that is some wonderful options.
