Do we, really? Our best XI probably includes O’Nien starting CM with Evans. Any championship side with O’Nien as a starter has problems IMO. We need better.
Yeah I think we do, can it be improved - yes of course it could but I think we have a strong starting 11. I agree I dont think O'nien is a championship caliber CM but I'm hoping Dan Neil kicks on as technically he is good enough but needs to improve tactically. I also think Hume will be really good next season - I know I am in the minority with that one but watched him loads and I honestly think there's a really good RB there. Our front 4 will cause teams problems next season - Stewart, Pritchard, Clarke and Roberts. Look, we 100% need to add more quality but I like the fact we have the bases of a good championship squad.
I like Winchester and he's a decent player but I don't want to see him at CB on a regular basis. If the plan is for him to cover any position in defence and play CM once in a blue moon I'm not sure it's a wise one.
Agree with this, he seems a great lad but I don't think he is Championship standard - cant see where he would play for us next season. I thought he was really poor today, not his fault as he's clearly not a CB
unfortunately i find myself in agreement as i like the lad, i also hope he is not the only one we see playing as a defender of some kind...we have had far too many of the square pegs in recent years it would be nice to have each position covered with a lad in his correct/favoured position. i am still confident the recruitment team are trying hard to do just that but we all know we could have a thousand we are trying for and none would arrive, really hoping the town centre work raises the profile of the city and makes it more attractive to players wanting a move...seems strange that geography decides the move for many yet those that make the move here end up loving the place the people and the area.
i agree, we need to set our sights a bit higher. and as controversial as this sounds, I'd also offload O'Nien. As much as i love his commitment and versitility, he looks like a dirty player, and he will get found out in the championship, and he will cost us points. I hope we're looking for better players, and I believe we are.
Don't agree, think he is going to remain a key player for us, major disruptor, passionate driver and motivator, a bit like Catts used to be, will help give the team the grit it will need to succeed.
I get what you are saying but I would keep O'Nien for next season and hope he kicks on. He does need to improve his ability in possession and positionally he needs to be more disciplined but reckon Neil will help him improve those areas.
