Can defend as to be expected but can’t play ball like the modern day defender is expected to from what I’ve gathered

Strangest transfer saga of the window so far I'd say. Player doesn't wanna join Utd but also doesn't wanna take a pay cut to seemingly stay at Barca either - can't blame him though, not his fault they gave out ridiculously high wages that they now struggle to pay.

He won't get a wage cut if he stays at Barca. He will if he moves to United. He agreed to a deferment of wages with Barca during lockdown. If he's sold he won't get it. That's the whole sticking block.
