I retract my moan! I would like potential some extra cover on the right too unless that's where Longman has been earmarked for. I won't lie, I hope this loan forward isn't a PL kid and it has been touted as a key signing by Baz.
Even if it is a kid you don't know what quality it is or experience in first team he may have had, he may even be a player a top team bought from abroad and has put out for experience. What if it is a 17 year old like Arda Guler.
Longman should definitely be used off the left now, he’s quite versatile now I think about it. Played up front for Wimbledon, can play either wing and wing back. Useful for us, hope he nails down a single position though
But the front 3 is set, we've even got decent back ups in place in Longman and Tetteh. And we've still got Wilks, Williams, and Scott who can play there too. I have no issue with Wilks or Williams as back ups for where we are right now We could do with an attacking midfielder and a ball winner though
I know he was messed around last season but his performances dropped off the edge of the cliff after signed him permanent .. with who we are bringing in I can't see him being a starter tbh.
I did say back in thread we was talking to a DM big lad, also another forward so you are getting your ball winner hope that keeps you happy. But i doubt it as it has not been released or signed so fair do's.
His performances did drop but he was being played as a wing back, so it is quite harsh to read too much into it. He's definitely at his best cutting in from the left onto his right.
I wouldn't mind a 3rd centre forward as going into the season with just 2 would make us a little light. We had 3 last season and they all get some minutes but it certainly doesn't feel like a priority when the squad is wafer thin in several areas
Twt as I've said, but not convinced when the new lads get up to speed that he'll be in the starting 11 unless he starts the season on fire.
I think Allahyar is the 3rd choice, which would make sense recruiting another wide player. He impressed me so much in those 6 starts as a lone striker
I don't think he'll be a starter either. But Sinik may take time to get up to speed or we might get an injury. I think he's a great lad to have around competing. But I do think he deserves to be given the most amount of minutes possible, he's our player and we paid good money for him so I wouldn't want a PL kid rocking in and taking his minutes. If he's doing crap up till January, by all means looks for somebody else then but he's still young and he has shown good glimpses of promise (that's probably doing him a disservice too as 4 goals and 4 assists last season is good)
Still more to come so you should be smiling after they announced guys upstairs done a great job so far and still doing a great job probably till window shuts, some of these deals are not easy the quality they trying to bring in some took months to work on trying to convince them to come to a side like Hull who finished down near the bottom of the league last season, it's not as if we are an attractive proposition in football terms with how we have been in recent times with way club was run and performances.
Don't get me wrong if the player is a Pelkas or an Enner Valenica who I've seen is available now, I'll shut up. Fenerbahce want Plea too along with King so they're probably open to letting one of their forwards go and we are their feeder club
I’m still hoping we use Van Der Veen’s contacts in the Dutch game to get someone from over there. He seems like such a class character too and is clearly a top coach given his pedigree. Was a mention of it earlier in the window but nothing since
It's difficult to say what else we need as we've no real idea what system we're going to play. Shota seems to prefer 5 at the back where your wingbacks usually create the width, but we also seem to be bringing in wingers, Sinik, Allahyar + others we've been linked with. Are we going to see a 343 / 523 type system like we played against Fenerbahce, but that only gives us a 2 man midfield, and with Seri, Tufan, Slater, Doc, and this potential DM we're bring in, im not sure how that will work. Either way, I do think we're lacking a bit of creativity further up the pitch, a proper attacking mid would be nice but again, it all depends what formation Shota wants to play. Personally I think we'll have a top 6 first 11 for the championship and id like to see Shota go slightly more attacking, maybe a 433 or 4231 Hopefully we'll start to see things take shape throughout pre-season.
For every quality signing we done now it will make it easier to convince others Acun and Hull are serious.
