They also proposed the game be split into 4 quarters, rather than 2 halves. Teams can switch out all of their players at any point, for example, if you have a free kick in the opposition half, you could put on all of your 'offense' players to maximise your chances og scoring, while if you concede a corner you might want to have your 'desence' set up. If a team scores a 'goal' they will be awarded 6 points. This will be known as a 'touchdown'. Players may pick up the ball and throw it to their team-mates anywhere on the pitch.
Running subs if it's past the 60th minute (i.e. you bring someone on without interrupting play, can all be done electronically anyway). Favours every club, really. The bigger ones bring on better subs regardless, but extra subs adds energy and potentially defenders to see a game out. I hate changes to football, but if they manage five subs correctly seems fine to me.
It will be good when we have a class bench basically. Few seasons down the line. Best to always leave one incase of a late injury maybe, or to waste time right at the end if winning.
They will still drag it out. I am sure of that. But let’s see. Who knows it might be good for the quality of the game/
It’s all done to facilitate the best teams with the best options to win games. Having said that I guess they do have many more games to play because of Europe. We will be one of them soon.
