Dylan , McCartney,The Stones… Pale, stale males. Still selling out wherever they go but shouldn’t they retire and make way for more relevant people who connect with our diverse society treating us to hip hop, rap etc?
Guess it happens all the time. Makes you wonder what proportion of tickets actually get released to the general public. As you can tell I'm a bit envious, all I get offered on my phone contract is a Costa voucher or an Odeon ticket...
Why should anyone retire? They'll die off soon enough and anyway there's plenty of room for everybody, if it's good it'll rise to the top of the pile whatever it is.
It was tongue in cheek. Quoting what was said on social media after Macca’s appearance at Glastonbury and about the Stone’s last tour, asking who wanted to watch these old has beens. The answer is of course hundreds of thousands. Some even mentioned on here there should be more contemporary stuff rather than old farts as they put it. Blues players always carried on until they died of drink or old age. Ironic if you are old enough to have seen the Stones on Juke Box Jury. After they played Elvis’s new release Jagger said “It is almost obscene someone singing rock and roll at his age, he’s nearly 30.”
Put up a Jimmy Reed number earlier. This chap started off as the drummer on Jimmy’s early recordings.
Jimm Reed influenced a lot of people .Wyman and Richards were fans of his guitar playing. First looked him up after hearing this by the Stones. (They always credited people and said their song Little By Little was a tribute to his style). Reed was an alcoholic and died penniless. Jagger and Richards paid for his funeral. It was a faithful adaptation of the original. The Pretty Things covered this and used Jimmy Reed riffs in nearly all their early stuff.
Any chance you could reveal the price. I need to know if it’s worth joining the scramble tomorrow. Regards
