Cant find anything that addresses this, really strange one because I can only find positive opinions about him then all of a sudden he's listed as released. Im wondering if he was tapped up and chose not to renew with Forest Green?
Just had a quick stalk of a FGR forum and aside from a few come ts about him being talented nobody even seems to care or discuss him leaving. Also seems to have been out on loan to the likes of Salisbury and Melksham rather than being in the first team. Time will tell but looks like he's a project, which explains the 1 year deal with option Bit weird.
The Club may have well of unearthed one of these Talents that bigger clubs sometimes find, let's hope he pushes on it would be great and signs are looking good as they seem to have faith in the lad.
Was he on a youth contract? Could be a similar situation to the one we had with Dan James a few years back.
The 2nd season debate rumbles on, so yours truly did a bit of Sherlocking. Of the 42 clubs promoted from the Championship to the Prem in the period 2007/08 to the end of the 21/22 season....17 were relegated after one season = 40.4% From the start 2007/08 to the end of the 20/21 season 6 were relegated after the 2nd season: City x2, Birmingham, QPR, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd = 25% 2 were relegated after three seasons...Wolves and Norwich. 0 after four seasons 2 after five seasons...Bmouth and Watford Burnley had six seasons in the prem...Swansea had seven...WBA had eight...Stoke had ten. Therefore from this simple analysis its harder to stay in the Prem league for one season than two. What does it prove? Probably not a lot other than I've got too much free time on my hands.
Baxter Jones Fig Greaves RWB Seri CDM Tufan Fleming Stark contrast to the previous regime. Decent player who wanted to move on to bigger and better things (rightly or wrongly). At least this time we've held out for a good deal for ourselves.
And we are responsible for 40% of second season syndrome in that period…The only club to fall victim to it twice.
You could argue that second season syndrome isn't just about relegation. Plenty of clubs have to spend big to stand still once the momentum of promotion dissipates in that first season. Pretty sure L**d's were supposed to be challenging for Europe this season, how did that work out?
