I've not really seen too much talk of this anywhere but it seems to me like quite a fundamental change.

Overall I think a good thing btw to give more opportunities to young players potentially and also manage player fitness better but there is no doubt that those sides with a really strong bench must be better positioned than those with limited squad depth. I'm fairly sure the big sides will see it as a competitive advantage and make full use of the extra subs. Man City & Liverpool for instance can pretty much swap in another player for fresh legs without changing the way they play.

In current state do you think it's beneficial for us or makes it harder for us to progress up the table? And do you think it's a good or bad change?

Good idea - but they should not allow play to stop when changes are made to stop all this pissing about wasting time when doing it. its going to be dreadful having to sit through that another two more times.

Of course it favours the teams with bigger more even squads but good to give more younger players a chance to be involved.

I think it’s going to be a mess. Let’s say a team is winning 1-0 with 7 minutes to go and they have say 4 subs left. That last 7+ minutes is going to be stop start stop start as the team try’s to waste as much time as possible.

It will defiantly favour the top teams. Who have bigger and better squads.

If it was to help younger players to get into the game more then they could have split the subs to 3 over 21 and 2 under say.

Without checking I'm sure you can do 5 subs but only over 3 stoppages to stop teams taking the piss.

I think the intensity of the game could change as some players will be told. Your doing 60 mins. Run your heart out. No need to pace yourself for 90min.
Be a lot more pressing by the forwards as they are the normal subs anyway

This. It’s the same as it was during covid so can only make it at 3 intervals (plus HT) so in theory shouldn’t be anymore stop start than it is now.

We talked about it a lot on lfc board few months ago, especially around advantage for bigger teams with better squads.

in theory, yes maybe they will. But on other hand, a team lower down can now freshen things up by bringingon some new defenders to try keep that 1-0 lead in tact.

or teams can be a lot more tactical and get 5 yellows for cynical fouls knowing they can take those 5 players off without risk of a red card.

And here's me thinking it was an eleven a side game.

I would actually look to reduce the number of substitutions to one plus one for injured goalie.

If we’re not careful we'll end up like Rugby Union which for me is spoilt by mass substitutions in the second half and the Michael Owen's claiming to have won the PL because he played 18 times for 10 minutes as a sub.

I personally think it's a good thing for multiple reasons. We always hear complaints about the work load players have to do over the course of a season so should improve fitness and prevent more muscular injuries, always find it crazy in the last 5/6 weeks of a season where three subs are made for hammy's per game. Hopefully will benefit the national team as well as we usually look very leggy at tournaments especially as they progress.

As you as well, the tactical changes will be fascinating to watch. If your a goal down with 10 to go you can throw on a whole new front line, a goal up you can shift from 4-3-3 to 5-4-1 to see it out, managers will be able to effect the game more replacing half the outfield players.

Anyone know if you still have a concussion sub in addition to the five subs?

If the concussion sub is also still allowed we should issue Howe with a large hammer so he doesn't have to waste a normal sub when Shelvey runs out of steam.

Ahh that wad a good day. We beat the French away from home at some place called Agincourt. Scored twice late on with shots that went miles and were as straight as an arrow. Think the facts were misquoted in the press and Jimmy Archer got the credit for the long arrow like shots.

If you don't want an eleven a side game then invent a new one.

Players being tired or susceptible to injury is just tripe. Managers tactical changes is yet another red herring.

Firstly., players should manage and pace themselves through a game.

Secondly, surely greater management skills are required if only 12 players involved rather than having 279 to pick from during a game.
