I’d seen his positions suggested here that’s all. He didn’t pop to my head when doing some searching as he seemed nailed on to go to Sunderland.
He looked very good against Fenerbahce and even for a 19 year-old I reckon he could definitely break into the first team squad this season.
Can anyone tell who was that kid who played the last 30 minutes against Fenerbahce and looked like Scott Mctominay? It was a pleasant surprise for me.
Really harsh imo on Jones. He's quality and will improve further. I expect he'll be an important player for us, this season and beyond.
Remember that chap Ian Ashbee who everybody wrote off? Lets see how these guys develop, if they're wearing black and amber, they have my support.
I saw quite a bit of Khadra at Ewood last season and he looked decent. Would be a very good loan option imo.
Limited? He’s got good recovery pace, probably the best defender at the club on the ball, good in the air. Covers 2 positions. Rolls Royce
Thought he was decent at L1 standard was yet to see much that shows champ qual but suppose he’s a young lad let’s see what happens alongside better players. Just the fact is I’d much rather us sign a first rate DM and another top champ CB.
Defensive record which Jones was a part of was perfectly decent last year. We just scored the second fewest in the division, so midfield and forward line is where the bulk of investment is going. I expect we'll see a ball winning DM or 2 come in though. Maybe one (Youssouf) can also play centre half if needed but Jones, Greaves, McLoughlin alongside Figs are all adequate for this level. Proved as much last year.
I think if we want top 6 we need better at the back. Greaves is top and can grow, Jones has potential maybe. Seany Mac I’d be looking to replace or keep as a bench option.
Figs is the experienced leader brought into improve them further. If we're playing a back 3 it will be Jones, Figs and Greaves as first choice. Jones is very well regarded at the club and made fewer mistakes than Greaves when he played. Defensive record in a side that was constantly defending last year got pretty close to playoff standard as it was.
