I haven't been around to comment for a few days but for me I don't think there was an improvement at Hull. Saturday though was an improvement but by how much time will tell. The team put out though on Saturday and the change in tactics was due more to luck than judgement. Late injuries caused the changes so lets see what tactics SD employs on Tuesday - whether he reverts back to type or sees what could be possible.
Here is a name who will manage in England soon Ole Gunnar Solskjær! He has led unfancied Molde to the eliteseien in Norway in some style!
I think OGS will be on many a list, but does he wait until Fergie goes, or tries his hand at a lower level? Whoever he goes to will be picking up someone who looks to have a good future ahead of him, and great contacts!
Oh wow, what a surprise, one win and suddenly we have the 'give himtill xmas' or 'give him till Bristol City/Doncaster'. Well, if we lose on Tuesday, it will be a 'wait until Middlesborough/Portsmouth'. Fact is nothing will happen until xmas, so sit tight and get behind everyone at the club, both manager and players. Ive trusted this squad all season, and will continue to do so!
We don't need him. We already have a Manager. Heard an interview on TS today. He is suspected to be going somewhere like (and hopefully to) Man U in 4-6 years. Meanwhile, he may go to a smaller club over here to get some experience, but probably not for a year or two.
Thought SoD was getting the pompey job! All repect to OGS a great job done with Molde ,I think he needs a couple of seasons in championship before going to old trafford! Emmiats if he continues this new found creativity from midfield ,then fine , if he reverts to type and drops Prince and Hodson for the skipper and LD ,then my new found "faith" will evaporate asn quickly as it appeared ! I still think he needs a mentor , More words from GT would be beneficial , but in an ideal world we would have someone like a Burkinshaw to assist and advise him , not his buddy from his forest days!
Did you listen to him being interviewd by 3CR on Saturday after the match? If you did, then you'd know that, yes he gets advice from GT - the latest being the day before the match. And as for dropping Prince & Hodson - SD has only stated that no-one is guaranteed a starting place, which, as far as I'm aware, has always been the case. IMO someone somewhere has simply misinterpreted that to mean they are being dropped - the fact is that we wont actually know until tomorrow.
Who exactly are you trying to give the message to Leonardo? It's not like Bassini will read this thread. I have threads opposed to this. Sacking him now would be stupid.
Lloydinio, I think that Leonardo put forward a well constructed reasoning for discussion. I choose not to agree with him, but this is a forum for people to share their thoughts and give us the fans the opportunity to agree or disagree. While I read and think about what a piece like this has to say, there are many one line replies, some would say shooting from the hip, that are hardly worth the time. Unless someone creates such comments we have little to talk about. This is a football forum, not a twitter account.
emiatss--of course we will "get behind the players" on match day, but support for the manager (unlike support for the club) is not unconditional is it? Support for Dyche will not be determined by one result or by one improved performance, but by results and signs of improvement over a run of games, and by evidence that Dyche is actually learning on the job. So-- what is a reasonable run of games to give a new manager, to allow him to show that he has an aptitude for the job (or not)? Have you got a number in mind? For my part I would say about twenty games is a fair number , for the stage of the season we are at. That would take us to Ipswich on Dec 3rd, with the vital Doncaster/Bristol City games just before that point. If we are still in the bottom three at 5.00 on Dec 3rd, with fewer than 20 points, and having lost to Doncaster and Bristol City, playing the team that he has assembled throughout, then Dyche's position will be untenable. His team, his tactics, his responsibility.
Very strange norway - that's essentially what I've been saying quite frequently, in fact only about a week's difference, but you've always argued against it!
LLoydinio - what a strange comment from you - as OFH says this is a forum for opinions and I was giving mine. I assumed it would be read by the couple of dozen people who regularly contribute here and hoped it would engender a good debate - which it did. So the answer to the question in your first senstence is "you" I know you are only 13 and you generally write really well so give us your reasons for why sacking him now would be stupid if you like -just as I gave mine for switching from the dont sack to sack camps
And I have moved from the Sack camp to the wait a little longer camp , tis strange how good debate and and a couple of games down the track can sway peoples thoughts! Remember it is not illegal to change your mind or opinion(BB?) if anything proves you are receptive to new information and arent inflexible ! Some good qualitys for managers to have!
I don't think it's about "fairness". I don't think it's even about whether or not Dyche is doing a good enough job. The simple question is whether or not the board have faith in Dyche to keep us up this season. If they do, fantastic, let's get behind the manager and get on with it. If they don't, then we need to either replace him now or hold our nerve and stick by him regardless. Given the way the transfer system works, Xmas/January/February/March might not give the hypothetical new man enough time to put his stamp on the club.
I'd suggest they trust him for the time being, otherwise they wouldn't have sanctioned the loans. I think it's probably a case of here you go, make it work... then if it doesn't, then we may have to have a re-think of your position! I think he will get pretty much the whole of November. Most of those games we should be looking at picking up points, maybe barring 'Boro... As some suggest, if we are in the bottom 3 come the Ipswich game, and there is little improvement in the performances, then he may be in danger of going!
Maybe the line could be a few games later than I'm suggesting but it needs to be drawn at some stage. The wait and see attitude worked once upon a time, when you could sign players from May till late March, but in the transfer window era November is the ONLY sensible time to get rid of a manager mid-season. If Dyche is here in December, then come hell or high water he should stay until May.
I know and i respect his views it's just the way he's written it is like an order not an opinion. Also you should get behind your manager whatever the results.
