What exactly happened with KLP and Ehab over the last contract? We didn’t play him for 2-3 months did we?

I doubt a new contract will happen.

Why does it matter if its clear to you or I how much there is to reinvest in a theoretical future sales of a player or players?

The board will know and as they'll be the ones doing the reinvesting or not there won't be any confusion.

If a club sells a player for £10m, with no sell on clause, you don't know how much they'll reinvest, if anything, anyway.

I was just discussing the fact that we'll have sizeable sell-ons owing to Turkish clubs, nothing more nothing less. I didn't say we deserved to know or that it mattered, just that it's going to be much more difficult to get a sense of how much profit we've actually made on a player now.

If this squad gets us promoted to the Premier League the size of any future 'sell-on's' will matter not one jot.

Don't think that's entirely true but point taken. I wonder if it's something we would continue if we were PL or we'd just pay more up front in a more traditional transfer style.

They will probably stick with the same business model it's a win win, if the player increases in value they make profit or at least get some payment back which means in theory the player would have played for us for very little cost, if he decreases because he does not perform then they won't have to pay so much out and the 50% is not really costing anything so basically they getting players for only half the price and very little risk of losing a lot on him.

I think in Acuns mind the sell on clauses may not regularly have much of an impact. We've signed these players on reasonably long term deals by which point I reckon he hopes we'll be in the Premier League with our players heads not being turned by the likes of Brentford.

This means we're either not selling the players we want to keep or they're attracting interest from the higher end clubs who could add say 5mil to our initial asking price to compensate us having to pay the clauses.

By all means, having lower transfer fees and only essentially paying the 'add-ons' (in this case sell on) if we sell for a profit is reasonably low-risk for us, so it's not too much of an issue.

Is it not just Allahyar with a sizeable one anyway? Sinik is likely only 15% on profit

It’s all a bit academic and we will never know.
Do sell on clauses take account of as ons,
How do players in exchange fall into the equation.
We as supporters will never know so why try to guess now.
What happens if a player retires through injury

It doesn't take into account add-ons, it can't.

Players in exchange are not taken into account, but are incredibly rare.

These sorts of questions are really good to put to people like Kieran Maguire on his podcast "The Price of Football" as he's incredibly knowledgeable about this sort of thing.

The other work-around to sell-ons is loan fees. If you loan a player out who is in the last 12 months of his deal, with an option to sign permanently for the club taking him on loan, theoretically there is no transfer fee, but the club could still receive a sizeable loan fee.

I would think we wouldn't do something like that given we are trying to build good working relationships with these clubs, but there's plenty of tricks clubs use to work around sell-on clauses.
