Marsch has not only got to drill his squad with what he wants but he has also to make up his mind about a few players: Leif Davies is the only left back at the club except for Firpo. Even the academy has used a winger and midfield player at LB, so only Davies is a real one. Hjelde can play there so who will get the nod as Firpo back up? Cody Drameh is the only fit RB at the club behind Kristenson. Ayling not going to be fit until September. Adam Forshaw do we need him? Maybe for the bench? Dan James cost a lot of cash but if Harrison is staying and we now have Sinisttera, where does he play? Summerville is yet another winger and we really need him signing a new deal and going out on loan, but if not he has to be sold Rodrigo, make or break. Where does he play. An he play alongside Aaronson, can he play alongside or just behind Bamford or do we cut our losses
It's reported that Davis is impressing in pre season. That gives us Davis, Firpo and Dallas (when he recovers) with Hjelde and Dramah also options at LB. Kristensen, Dramah with Ayling and Dallas backing up (once recovered) sees us having an abundance of right backs. Forshaw gets loads of stick for being injury prone but when he played last season he was possibly one of our better players in midfield. Good to have him around. Dan James has been a disaster of a signing just like Rodrigo. Neither look to have the quality needed. I'd happily drive Rodrigo back to Spain but if James has a good World Cup we might be able to recoup some money in January. In a perfect world, we'd sign a Kristensen type left back (Charlie Taylor) and a striker to rival Bamford as an all out 9. Sell Raphinha to finance it.
Good Morning from a very warm Bardsey to Matt Doc WJ Ristas Shako etc I think that the rap has gone on long enough .Hemust be told he has to sign for Chelsea than we can all move on.We still need a decent striker nad I fear that Charles is too frail for this league and am favouring the young PSG striker who is a natural centre forward.Once these two matters are sortedwe can look for a left back again a i favour Charlie Taylor who has great experience of the PL and seems to remain injury free
Forshaw is a neat and tidy footballer who’s capable of doing a job at this level still. In principle a good squad option if fit. He’s just never fit for more than a few weeks before something else comes along. not his fault… for all the sicknote jibes, footballers want to play and hate being crocked. He’s just been very unfortunate, but in my view you can’t build a squad with forshaw being one of your options. He’s a wildcard bonus for when he’s fit.
Whilst it's important for Forshaw to be fit and available it's also now surely the case that he's back up to the better players we've signed. The bonus therefore would be to not see too much of Forshaw as it means Roca & Adams are doing the business for us.
Bielsa rated Forshaw. So I’m happy if he’s backup, and more chance he’ll be fit if he’s not playing every game.
don‘t disagree.. my point was he shouldn’t be considered as a first team squad member when assessing strength/weaknesses recruitment.
Chelsea have had enough of Barcelona and the Chelsea captain Aspalecueta is wanted and so too is Alonso. Both have a year left and Barcelona dont want to pay for them and cant afford to pay. Barcelona have already taken Christenson on a free and tried to poach Rudiger too and the way they are dealing with Raphinha…
The squad going to Australia Goalkeepers: Harry Christy, Kristoffer Klaesson, Illan Meslier Defenders: Liam Cooper, Leif Davis, Cody Drameh, Leo Hjelde, Robin Koch, Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk Midfielders: Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Adam Forshaw, Archie Gray, Darko Gyabi, Mateusz Klich, Marc Roca Forwards: Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood, Jack Harrison, Daniel James, Rodrigo, Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville
If the club felt the same though they wouldn't have offered him a new contract and so he's therefore very much part of the 1st team squad. This then obviously has an effect on recruitment and retention of other players. For what it's worth my take is the same as yours and we should have allowed him to leave at the end of his contract.
Yes they may well think that Jambo, He was their ‘excuse’ to not sign another midfielder last summer. Got fit for a few games, signed an extension, got crocked again a week or so later. Very forshaw and very leedsy at least it was a short extension
I still think we look light in midfield. Forshaw will be out injured at some point in the season so that leaves two youngsters untried in the premier league, our championship promotion winner if the new signings get injured or struggle to get up to speed with the league.
Am I right in thinking that there are only 8 english out of this 22? (Assuming Gray follows the family tradition). Remember when we used to laugh at the number of foreigners most teams had?
Our academy has plenty of home grown but first team is better value for money from overseas. We price ourselves out of the market
I endorse this view Kalvin Phillips blasted for 'patronising' Leeds United fans as journalist says what he did should be 'banned'
I found the goodbye message nauseating, we've gone all yank in this country, "love you all" bollox. Kalvin you did what was right for you, I get that but if you truly, truly loved the club, you would have said build a team around me and let's make it great again. You forced our hand to sell you to Citeh, which meant we got millions below market value, Smith got pelters and he gave back the club his £1m signing on fee, you've robbed us of £10m and want to still be adorned as one of us, no **** off and enjoy your nights out with Jack, don't expect your lovely young lady to put up with it though.
Totally agree. If Leeds United meant that much then stay and and only ever play for one club as you just can't have it both ways. Good luck for the future but spare us the bullshit and own the decision as well as the consequences which are that you'll never now be revered like all the Revie era players are. It is what it is Kalvin.
