Pleasing to see both Ferraris still quick around a perceived Red Bull track too, hopefully can give Max a fight.
Correction! Perez is demoted to 13th as 1 of his Q2 times was deleted!!! How bad are the stewards/FIA getting!!!!!!
As I understand it, Perez ran wide on one of the corners that wasn't being monitored as carefully because it was a rare place to go wide, he was the only one to go off on that corner. So it wasn't picked up at the time. Stupid mistake which probably cost Gasly P9.
The Sky F1 commentators mentioned it as they said Perez would be investigated after the session and when you watch the qualifying highlights on YouTube they use Sky’s commentary and actually show the corner for which he is was under investigation for
I was out and about yesterday and missed all the action. Will watch the sprint today though. Sounds like it was interesting. I want LeClerc to win both the sprint and race. The times are close. Looking at Q2 times, Lewis could have been up on the second row too but for the incident. A Verstappen, Le Clerc, Lewis battle would be interesting in tomorrow's race. Hope it has the opportunity to happen.
Sounds like the softs might make the end of the sprint but only if they can do a fair bit of tyre management. It would be good if ferrari split their strat with one on soft other on mediums but I doubt they will.
Ferrari racing instead of towing each other to get to verstappen, love to see it as a racing fan, but, c'mon.
Fairly full sprint at the front- front three teams out on their own. Perez looks quick, Hamilton has pace but not quite enough to match RBR and Ferrari.
I was thinking the same, it's almost like he was over driving in the beginning and after the 2 big crashes he has calmed down and seems to be driving quite well now.
I know this is his second second season , but I’m sure I read somewhere that in most of his racing categories , you can pretty much write off his first season . He starts doing well in his second season . pretty sure I heard / read that , but not certain .
Didn't seem happy post-race, that the team didn't move Magnussen over when he was quicker. Also surprised they didn't try to keep Magnussen within a second of Schumacher to keep giving him DRS, Hamilton only got by when KMag got too far ahead.
Yeah in F3 and F2 he had very mediocre first seasons, then really found his feet in his second season.
got beaten by Mazepin a fair few times in that season. Yeah, but he was only quicker because he had DRS zones to keep up. I think Haas played the safe bet, once Hamilton started to get aggressive they had a choice, gamble for 3 and hope Mick can keep Hamilton back, or do what they did and take the safe 2. He defended well, I'll give him that, but I'm still not that impressed, it's Kmag beating him, and he's been out for a season and was mid-grid at best.
Yeah I'm not saying he's been good enough, far from it. 16-4 down in points 9-2 down in quali 5-4 ahead in race finishes, surprisingly, but as you said, this is all relative to a very midfield driver who nobody was interested in when he left Haas the last time. I think Mick's seat is possibly one of those under the most threat for next season, based on the first hald of 2022. Danny Ric and Latifi probably the only drivers more at risk of being replaced, and that's assuming Williams don't need Latifi's money any more?
