Kaboure spent last season on loan at Troyes in Ligue 1 so has top flight experience. Nice are after him as well apparently
This would make more sense for the right back loan spot as it still leaves a spot from City for us to loan Delap or another player. Obviously with Joe Shields now at Saints we should have good knowledge of which players are ready for playing for us
In theory yes but I’d suggest that he is an inferior right back for our system. I haven’t watched the other guy but he is a dedicated right back. A converted right back it unlikely to have the same input going forward Also we don’t know if he will be wanting to go on loan as a right back. I’d assume his preference would be to play central defence. But equally it might just be to play premier league football
I was wondering who was on their list to replace Ake when I read a Fabrizio tweet earlier about Chelsea and Ake agreeing terms
The Ake price of £40-45m will be a yardstick. Maybe a season early in terms of Mo moving on, but M.City - after selling a CB - are a perfect buyer.
He is no where near ready for that level. Not to say he never will be, but he is not even close just yet. At a time in his career where he really needs to play regular football, he would be better off signing a new deal but using this interest (if genuine) as leverage to get a sensible release clause.
Which we would clearly give him. Indeed the going rate for someone signed at around what he was signed for seems to be 40m. But we could probably push his a little higher using Ake as a comparison
I agree, I like him but he is prone to silly errors and has given away a fair few penalties. I hope we keep him but if Man City come knocking a player just won’t turn that down.
Our three highest net worth players (JWP, KWP & Salisu) have all had links out this season, but I don’t believe it’s worth the reward of a bigger budget to spend elsewhere, especially when we will have a lot of new players fresh to the premier league. the unknown is that we don’t know what sport republics budget is and I think that’s got to be a strength for us in the market at the moment. I have a good feeling that we will spend big on a striker, but probably with the understanding that one of those players will likely have to leave next summer to finance this rebuild. Which is the order things should be done if you have money
Unless this all goes really, really way better than expected (like, getting into Europe) I still feel like we’ll see JWP leave next summer. It will be his last chance for a huge move before he enters the “Vardy Zone” of being too valuable to us, but too late in his career for teams to justify the money it would take to get him.
And if we build these new players I to a decent team then we will be better placed to accept this and use the money wisely so que sera sera and good luck to him
