Leavy paddy behind too as his body simply won’t stand up to that length of trip and possibly having to kick a nasty hard ball while there. For similar reasons leave forShaw at home roo

Looking at the transfers around Europe its obvious that many leagues and clubs are struggling from the covid issue which killed their revenue streams. Barcelona are only signing freebies and its the same for most clubs who may buy one or two cheapies and then bring in freebies. Yes the top end clubs may buy a couple of high profile highly expensive players but then do nothing else unless a freebie pops up.

on one web site today I look at over 7 pages of 50 players per page who walked away from clubs this month. Now when you think that these players had run down their contracts so would think their value would be minimal but the first ten on the list still held a value of over £200m so clubs invested big money and then the player just ran down their contract and walked away. This is unsustainable because no business can invest say £20m in an asset and then have spend that money again in only 3 years. You also notice that contracts are getting longer to try and counter this issue and we are now giving out 5 year deals, but thats to try and ward off predators who know players reaching 2 years and under left have a lower market value.

Football is fkd as players have all the power. Bosman killed football so a new model needs devising that gives both club and player equal rights. 350 players in European football just allowed to walk away and get a big signing on fee and a huge wage simply because their new club got them without a transfer fee is a joke. Este mentioned that Dembele wanted a signing on fee of £15m and a £1.5m agents fee for staying and signing a new contract plus a wage rise. Its a joke.

Yes I know that some of the 350 players who walked may have been helped out of the doir because a club couldnt move them on, but the whole system is broken and in the end the fan pays

Not sure if it's wise leaving forshaw at home. Who knows what manner of injuries he could aquire. Just cutting the grass could cause lengthy injuries. Might be better to bubble wrap him while the club return.

Was at TA the other day. Took a pic of Forshaw in pre season training. Seems they are taking precautions....

Hopefully the same thing will happen to every football club in the world that is happening to Barcelona and other clubs, maybe fair play and bit of sense will get back into the once beautiful game.

Exactly Olof <ok> get back to more sensible transfer fees and wages. Clubs to survive only on income generated at the turnstiles etc and aren’t allowed to get into any debt whatsoever.

    A more level playing field.

Fabrizio Romano saying Milan have agreed terms with CDK and now negotiating with Brugge. Seems Brugge in the same boat as Leeds with player wanting to go to club offering £10m less

This continual ' tapping up ' of players before agreement has been reached with the club holding the players registration needs to stop. The rules are already there but evidently are not being enforced in the slightest.

Good, let him go to AC Milan. I actually don’t think we need another striker. And if we have £30m floating around we can spend it in other areas if we need to. Pretty sure Sinisterra can play up front also and looks like he’d be great there.

If we do actually buy an outright striker go for the PSG player who was on loan at Lens whose name escapes me.

Just looking on the BBC Sport site it shows all transfers and so far 40 are freebies and 22 loans with most of the rest as undisclosed?

Although Sinisterra can play up top I'm still damaged from having to play Dan James up front on his own last season. It wasn't good (and it wasn't his fault).

Bamford and Gelhardt both lost games last year through injury and after those we will be reverting to wingers playing up front again. I'm not comfortable with that after only avoiding relegation in the last hour of last season.

I'm desperate to get in a striker and an all out no.9 to boot. They don't even have to be 30 million quids worth. There are players out there that could "do a job" for us better than James, Rodrigo and potentially Sinisterra for far less money. One example I have used was Bournemouths capture of Kieffer Moore from Cardiff for 6 million in January. He's not the best but he will be playing in the World Cup for Wales and can hold the ball up and bring others in to the game. Would have helped us massively back end of last season.

I'm not saying he would be the answer but a back up option like that to dampen the (heavy) reliance on Bamford would do me.

We would go with Gelhardt and Bamford up top with Sinisterra, Rodrigo, Greenwood operating as back up for Gelhardt and a new #9 backing up for Bamford. Currently we have nobody to fill in at 9. That's concerning to me.

In addition to the above I watched bits of Matteo Joseph last season and he looks impressive. I'm hopeful in 2 or 3 years time he might bear fruit.

Tbf there aren’t many top teams that play with an outright 9. More of a false 9. In fact when we signed Rodrigo wasn’t he known as and playing as Spain’s no.9?

If he’s staying we may as well use him in his proper position.

That's the way it goes tough on Brugge but do we really care. How do we know Leeds are after a prem quality striker. Perhaps we will sign one for the u21/23s.Jesse just mentioned a striker but no specific age or experience.

Yep, Rodrigo was Spains #9. He played in a tic tac football team almost like a false 9. He's failed massively here when played up front. Unreliable.

Marsch has enjoyed most success with two strikers and at Salzburg played with 6ft 1 Leicester striker Daka with the rapid Koita playing off him. He likes to get that ball up front and centrally quickly so a good #9 who can act as a pivot is essential. We only have Bamford who can play that role. If he's injured then we have to play James, Rodrigo, Sinisterra up front as a #9 whereas I see them more in the "little quick man" role playing off the main striker.

All I'm saying is that if Marsch is playing like he did at Salzburg it might be an idea to get another option for Bamford.

Of course, I'm happy to concede that Marsch might play differently here as he seems to want to use wingers cutting in from the flanks.

Dont forget Haaland and Minamino under Marsch too, both scoring plenty and Minamino setting up Haaland for loads

Having a striker as the focal point and using a winger/half winger to support the No9 works well. When play going down the right the left side winger supports and visa versa and thats how a front 3 work, but I agree with Emu we need a striker in

The kid has a lot going for him and seems to score every time he plays. He was mentored when he arrived and not used much until he got the hang of the coaching, the tactics and the weather, but as soon as he got his first start not looked back and creates too.

it could be that the new striker is Sonny Perkins the kid that upset WHU. Hes also a player who has played for the first team, so maybe Perkins and Gelhardt pushing each other?
