Ally Gold says the initial fee for Clarke will be low but add-ons can take it to £10m. We only paid £10m anyway so if he did reach even a few of those add-ons we’ll make a decent bit of it a back. Shame it never worked out for him, I still think there’s a decent player in there and hopefully he can start fulfilling his potential with Sunderland.
They don’t want to sell him though so I don’t blame them for wanting ridiculous amounts for him. Spurs have rightly done it to clubs before when they come sniffing around their stars
The trouble is I think they do want to sell him, he has had his head turned and our representatives and his agent have all fed him with stuff about him being premier league ready and they want the money and not a sulky player who has been denied his big chance. We should walk away or at the very least make it clear that there are alternatives, Paratici normally has other options so let them know we are sniffing around others.
They do want to sell him, though. He spent last season out on loan at Forest and only has two years left on his deal. He wants to go, they want to sell him and they could do with the money. Wilder prefers Isaiah Jones and would prefer to strengthen other parts of his team.
I still don’t blame them for making it awkward and expensive to sign him. We’ve seen clubs try to bully Spurs into selling before and Spurs have stood firm and only accepted bids which they wanted.
They're welcome to do what they want with their own player. I just don't think they're in a strong position to do so.

His English isn’t too shabby, wasn’t sure he’d be able to speak the lingo. Should help settle a bit easier, having Hugo here will also help a lot.
With any luck he'll still be scapegoated by the FFF so won't be getting injured on international duty anytime soon...
His English is excellent considering he's never lived in an English speaking country. It's especially good for a Frenchman that's spent a few years in Spain. That's two major languages that are widely used, so it's interesting that he knows a third.
I think that says a lot about clubs like Barca, Bayern, Los Ladrones etc: they know how useful it is for their players to learn English, not for any reason on the pitch, but it's a very useful tool for PR Would be nice if English players who joined those clubs bothered to return the favour, of course...
English players don't tend to play for those clubs, to be fair. Beckham did, but he can barely speak English. Then you've got the genius of Grealish:
There's a well-known story from one of Los Ladrones' private flights of Michael Owen sitting in his seat reading a Spanish phrasebook, and Beckham asking him what he was reading
Spurs seem to be doing some decent transfer business - both in and out. What's the secret? P.S Richarlison was probably too much money, but he's better back up for Kane and Son than Spurs have had previously
He was shown them as an example... "They cost the club £105m and we ****ed them off out within 8 weeks of arriving...imagine what we'll do to a Loanee who won't try"
Levy knows he got a gem of a manager in Conte and now is the right time to back him. I don’t think Spurs can finish above City or Liverpool but I think best of the rest is more than possible. In fact I’d tip Spurs 3rd and Arsenal 4th right now. I think Chelsea will struggle hugely next season and Utd could go either way but I think Ten Hag will need more than 1 transfer window to make that squad his own
Arsenal will be good going forward but unless they get at least 1 defensive midfielder and 2 centre backs they will have exactly the same weaknesses next season. To improve their squad depth they probably need another attacking midfielder, cover for the full backs and possibly another defensive midfielder. Next season is gonna be brutal. It starts in 4 weeks and with European football the top 7 will play at least 7 games in September (league, europe and league cup) and (if they are still in the league cup) 9 matches in October. Rotation and squad depth will be really important. Chelsea and United will start buying players. Liverpool and City already have and look stronger than last season...and will bring more in. We have brought in 5 so far ... at least 2 or 3 more will come in. Arsenal need to get on with their business soon cos a slow start in the league could be very costly.
