I can’t see Leicester being keen on selling him, he seems a natural ready-made replacement for Schmeichel when he retires.
If/when Clarke signs, I’m guessing we’ll look to bring in Broadhead next. Then it’s a case of targeting squad improvements - Goalkeeper - Centre back (possibly Doyle on loan if he’s happy being more of a squad player) - Left-back - Centre-Mid (Rudoni? Camara?) - Another forward player (probably a loan of a premier player later on in the window)
Putting a canny side together there, if conte sticks the season out they could be a good shout for 3rd
Over the moon with Clarke. its the first time I can remember loan signings who I wished were ours coming back to be ours. All we need now is Broadhead
i see a lot of people saying we won't spend this amount, are target is promotion, it probably won't happen but it's good to hear, no one has a clue what are budget is, but to spend about 6million on players already shows it's a good one
It doesn't really matter what we spend as long as the players are of sufficient quality. I think we've made a great start, but hopefully we'll have plenty more to come.
not too fussed how much is spent in all honesty as i very much doubt the club will end up on the same road as before, buying 'past it' mercenaries after a final big pay packet...the recruitment team certainly appear to be getting good value for the money they do spend without throwing millions around which is all we can ask as fans, to see the club well run after years of crap.
70% of clubs in the championship are either in or teetering on the edge of a finanical mess....no reason targetting young hungry players we cant at least have a right good go at promotion. im hopeful we can at least strongly contest for a playoff place...few more in like we have...a good start with is toward top end....targeted transfers for the january window & who knows
I like Clarke. Brave and always going forward. Lots of potential. For a few million with adds on that only apply if we continue our upward trajectory, it does feel like a no brainer. The fact he loved his time here and is close to Cirken will mean he will pick us over other clubs too. Get the deal done and let's strengthen elsewhere.
