    3.00 Newmarket Soapy Stevens.

I had to put this one up because of the name - Soapy Stevens was a character played by Wilfred Hyde-White in the wonderful Peter Sellers film “Two Way Stretch”. Star of the show for me though was Lionel Jeffries as the hard-nosed warder Crout (a delicious word play on Kraut).

Ok, going to make it 2 posts in 2 days, a first for me… another from the Jane Chapple-Hyam yard that is I’m told in great form at home and a big run is expected…
    Nizaaka @ 4.10 Newmarket (currently 5/2)
Whilst I’m here and unlikely to get on the forum tomorrow the lad also mentioned one running tomorrow to keep an eye on…
    Intellogent @ 4.05 York (currently 8/1)
As always play at your own risk.

What about RAY VONN in the opener then?
Named after a character in one of the best comedy shows ever! (thats my opinion anyway)

Cor bally blinkin' blimey what is 'appening on the old 'Daily Thread'?!? I was expecting to see dozens of predictions re our next PM. As someone once hollered, on these very pages, 'more research required'.

Those bookie chappies, incidentally, going '3/1 the field'.

Smart money has to be on Ben Wallace, unless he has to give an interview. If he does, then he is likely to be doomed.

Personally I find it all very entertaining, who knew Boris would leave it in such a state? 1.01.

Could kick myself over Wallace, in a lot of ways, as when I last looked he was 12/1 (thought that quote miles too big) but is now only 3's. Definite contender as has recently landed a couple of 'coups' and is very much the up and coming starlet.

Or maybe someone (just as in 2005) will emerge from absolutely nowhere and 'wow' the nation. Although I guess its easier to emerge from nowhere when in opposition rather than in Government. I do remember that day the old boy burst onto the scene back in '05 - 'that's the chap for me', I hollered, 'He'll sort the country out'. And how right I was to be...

Meanwhile, in a strange quirk of fate the only MP I actually can claim to know to even the slightest degree (although haven't spoken to him for 4 years!!!) was yesterday appointed Welsh Secretary! Maybe, I'll pop along if he cuts the ribbon on something local...

In the 16:10 at Newmarket over 7f, a sporting bet could well be Dashing Dick who has fair form. This Cable Bay gelding should be suited by conditions in this Class-3 Handicap. Tom Marquand aboard for the William Stone yard. SP will do!

Seems to me there is a global problem around the caliber of persons wanting to get into politics. We have a couple of shining lights here in Germany but typically, most places you look you have to think “jeez is that the best they can do?” Trump v Biden, Johnson v Corbyn, Macron v Le Pen just a few recent examples. Mind you, at least there is a choice unlike the “Putin or Gulag” choice in Russia <doh>
