Maybe he did. Just didn't like being bombed out for an academy kid. Gotta be a kick in the balls if you've been previously considered a senior, no? And given some of what he allegedly predicted has happened, there might just be some truth in it?

    Who knows?

Regardless, my comment was directed more at those who took it and ran with it as a reason to bash the club, as opposed to Elder himself.

It will be interesting to see how long he stays for though...

... If we get any offers that is.

Could be devastating with his pace coming off the bench late on.

Was it really in doubt that we weren't? Gaping hole in the squad otherwise, no?

Not easy for a young winger/forward to be played at wingback in a primarily defensive role he's not used to, dont you think?

And he did well in it, by and large.

Strange that he was preferred to other, more senior options wasn't it? Even if it meant playing Elder on the other side which he did as sub occasionally, a forward was still preferred as a left footer on the right hand side.

Younger players do have the tendency to develop, and younger players sell for higher values due to the fact clubs want to invest in potential.

A 27 year old is more likely to be at his peak, but I agree you can turn a profit if they prove themselves at the level they are playing at. There just isn't the speculative value attached to a youngster.

Don't think anyone did that. From memory the most anyone said - myself included - was that IF there was truth to his comments THEN it was a bit of a concern. Given he hasn't been shoved out the door for a pittance as punishment, I'm skeptical that they were true. Seems everyone's desperate for him to go but perhaps the club recognises he's a cheap and reasonably reliable backup, the same call they appear to have made on Wilks.

I don't think getting 'bombed out of the side' for an Academy player would sting a professional, and suggesting that about Elder similar to the suggestion Honeyman didn't fancy it here because we were bringing in good players is a bit disrespectful.

Youre twisting what I said re Honeyman. I'd have liked him to stay, but given he wasn't played as a 10 when Shota came in and was pushed right, and we probably aren't going to play with a dedicated 10 going forward I respect his decision to move for his own career.

And given he was independently valued at 800+k before the season started, rising to 1.3m by the end, I think we've been good for him like he's been good for us, so let's wish him well.

But replacing him with a player independently valued a 3m + is a step up in quality on paper. TWT if it works in the rough and tumble of the championship.

I don't know why you approach all these conversations so confrontationally as if you need to have an argument each day to get your fill. The way you phrase you "Strange isn't it?" kind of questions just read so funnily. <laugh>

Longman looked ok as a wingback, he also looked ok as a forward, he had a good patch of form where he looked great, but outside that was a bit average regardless of where he was played.

Not particularly strange, as he struggled with injury during the second half of the season. The longest stretch of games where he wasn't in the squad was while he battled a groin injury, and there was only four games he was on the bench/didn't start in the second half of the season.

Says one of the most confrontational posters on the board.

Look at yourself before judging others.

And Longman purple patch was as a forward, not shoehorned in as a wingback.

I'm aware I tend to get sucked into back and forths (as this seems to be becoming..) and has 'tarred' my reputation so when people see my name they assume I'm instigating and continuing things, but I do tend to try to disengage where I can, like the other day with Cityzen (which made the comment directed at me and GFAW last night especially bizarre). So I'll leave you to it. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Debate is what the board is for. Even heated, but don't accuse others of what you're guilty of yourself.

I've replied to a number of posts, not just yours, and having re-read them having been accused of being confrontational and argumentative, I don't see what's confrontational about them. Just stating an opinion, which is the basis of discussion.

I don't think Elder is fancied though, and I've been far from convinced by his form in the championship. Great in L1, but don't think he has a long term future here and I suspect he knows it.

I'd love him to prove me wrong.

As I said previously, but seemed to be in the minority, I just couldn't envisage anyone agreeing to something like that. If they wanted potential future income, they would just add a bit on to the club selling price to reflect the team value as an asset.

I often wonder what people think this sort of post achieves, long after the proverbial dust has settled on a conversation. Is it looking to spark it back up? Is it just to get their 2 cents in with a cheap dig?

Don't really get it but fair enough mate, guess it's me having a pop at everyone.

Good to hear we’re still in for a ball-winning midfielder in addition to Seri.

Supposedly Sinik has said his farewells. Suspect he's one who'll meet up with us over there and be announced there.

Ghanaian teenager Sam Opoku signs professional contract at Hull City

Ghanaian youngster Samuel Opoku has appended his signature to a professional contract with Championship side Hull City.

Opoku, 17, was a revelation in attack for the under 19 team of the Tigers and will now feature for the under 23’s after his new deal.

He was born to Ghanaian parents in Italy and featured for both Modena and Sassuolo before the family relocated to UK.

He is eligible to play for both Ghana and Italy though he is yet to be capped.

Do you reckon the ball winning midfielder should be set on defend, support or attack duty?
