Shodipo 25 today. Will he be given a chance to make a breakthrough this season? Would be like a new signing.

It’s definitely time he stepped up in his career. He’s skirted around making the grade for too long. Hope the lad finds this season to be the one to make an impact and stride on.

Is it ‘in him’? Not sure - but rooting for him.

It's about his attitude isn't it? Hasselbaink gave him his chance and he took it. There were times then when he was carrying the team and all of our expectations on his shoulders. Every other manager since then has felt he needed to improve by playing in Leagues 2 and 1

With the possibility of making it permanent for £4.5 million !! Not the out and out goalscorer I was hoping we'd get, benefit of the doubt for now if he does join, but I can't suddenly see him start banging in plenty of goals.

The possible permanent move relates to if we got promoted. If we managed to pull that miracle off, I'd hope to God we'd be getting in better options that him with the money we'd get from being promoted to the Premier league !

I for one do hope we get Roberts on loan. He will definitely add something to the team and squad. He is an attacking midfielder with a good work ethic. He's brilliant in training with international and premier league experience. He bore the brunt of many Leeds fans frustrations last season, mainly, in my opinion, due to Bamfords injuries. Without a recognised striker, he was expected to bag the goals for them. He is not a striker but is very good behind the striker. His movement is very good on and off the ball. It would definitely be a positive signing in my book.

We need goals Bob and plenty of them. Dykes isn't gonna get 20 in a season, Bonne will probably go to Ipswich, Kelman ( is he ready to start alot of games), and the same with Armstrong. If we're gonna play with 2 number tens that means just 1 guy up top. We desperately need a finisher or a poacher, after letting Charlie and Gray go, I really hope we can still get one from somewhere.

No surprise there then. I have no idea how short of a meaningful offer we are but let's hope we go back in with one they are tempted by !

I don't know of many strikers who are going to bag 20 goals a season for us or who would want to come to us. Firstly we need to provide opportunities for this mythical striker. Last season when Willock was injured we were desperate for that other no.10. This is where we should be welcoming the likes of Roberts and the potential signing of him. If we can spread the goals around between a striker and the midfielders then this 20 goal marker is irrelevant.

Roberts had 2 assist in 2 seasons ! OK not starting alot of games but hardly gonna set us up for alot of goals. Only hope of getting out of the Championship is someone who can get at least 20 goals, look at Mitrovic, Solanke , Diaz. I'm not expecting us to spend massively on a striker but a few million to tempt someone like 1 of the Coventry strikers or the Luton striker or a proven hit man from league 1 or abroad. I hope Roberts does come good I really do but from what I've seen of him he's an awful finisher.

How many strikers do regularly score 20+ goals in the championship? Like you say, those that do would set their sights higher than us, not that we could afford them anyway.
Last year we barely created any chances for our strikers so anyone up front would have struggled.
Recruitment really is going to be interesting.

Never worked out how our DoF has struggled to identify good finishers given his previous life as an excellent one.
